About this Cook
I'm 18 years old, and I love to cook! The first thing I ask anyone who walks in my front door is usually "are you hungry??"
My favorite things to cook
Baking any type of sweet is definitely my favorite thing to do...cookies, cakes, pies, cupcakes, they're all fabulous! I also love to make breakfast, as well as mediterranean-style seafood dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom and I make breakfast together every year on Christmas...it's usually something different, but always includes her delicious pancakes! I still haven't quite been able to get them "just like Mom's."
My cooking triumphs
This past summer I made a really delicious caramel-and-chocolate layer cake, which I took to a family gathering. I was planning on bringing the leftovers home for my friends and I to share later that night, but it was gobbled up long before the party ended! The recipe was definitely a keeper =)

Grandpop's Special Chocolate Cake
EXCELLENT cake recipe! And so easy! I made a mini version for my boyfriend's birthday...I halved the recipe; used Ghirardelli cocoa and a little extra vanilla. I baked the layers in 5" springform pans, it made four total layers at 25 min in the oven. Perfection! I will absolutely be making this again, the cake is divine.

Cheddar Bacon Hamburgers
Fantastic burgers. The only changes I made were to use hand-grated cheddar (instead of the pre-shredded kind) and to add some Worcestershire sauce and a little chili powder. I pan-fried the patties in a little olive oil and topped them with sliced cheddar on potato rolls.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
Great recipe. Very easy, very versatile! I used a bit more onion and ham than was called for, 14oz chicken broth and 12oz water, and I also added some cheddar cheese at the end. Definitely a keeper!
