I have made something similar to this recipe may times but I usually cook it in the oven for 3 to 4 hours. Instead of the water I put a box of beef broth and also a beef bouillon cube. After the meat is done, I remove it bring the broth mixture to a boil and drop in a can of buttermilk biscuits for beef dumplings. The dumplings thickens the broth to make a thick gravy. My son inhales the dumplings.
