About this Cook
I am retired and love spending time in my kitchen. It is my comfort zone. I have over 300 recipe books that I have collected over the years. When I am not in the kitchen you might find me on the golf course.
My favorite things to cook
I have many favorites. I guess if I had to choose, it would be Italian dishes. I also like to try new recipes that I see on TV or on the many websites that are available.
My favorite family cooking traditions
It wouldn't be Christmas without making homemade meat filled ravioli and a wonderful Italian mushroom soup that I learned to make nearly 40 years ago.

Lemony Quinoa
I made this recipe as a side dish and it turned out great. Loved the crunchy texture and the bright lemony taste. The next day I added a little olive oil to the cold leftovers and that was my lunch. One thing I did do, after reading several articles on quinoa, was rinse it thoroughly before cooking it.

Cream Cheese Kolacky
These cookies were one of six different kinds that I recently made for my twin grandaughters high school graduation party. Needless to say, they were one of the first to disappear. Since I made them ahead of time, I put them in the freezer and they did very well. I didn't sprinkle the powdered sugar over them until they were ready to be served. I found the dough very easy to work with and I used the Solo apricot and cherry fillings. This recipe will definitely go in my collection.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies
I have had this recipe in my collection for a number of years and it still remains one of my family's favorites. I find that chilling the dough a while before baking helps. I have even made them for cookie exchange parties and large group gatherings. I can't tell you how many recipe requests I have gotten for this cookie. They are easy to make and they also freeze well if you are quick enough to pack them up before the family knows what you are doing.
