I am 18 and have been helping mum to cook since i was about 2 yrs old.
My favorite things to cook
Pavlova- it is so easy but everyone thinks it is hard and thinks you are wonderful for doing it. My own versions of something that I have seen or eaten but don't have a recipe for or things with recipes which i don't feel like following. I usually modify recipes to suit me (or available ingredients).
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have large family get togethers at Christmas and New Year with tons of food and mum and I always do dessert- which is the most fun part.
My cooking triumphs
My first pineapple mousse turned out perfectly and my pavlovas are always good.
My cooking tragedies
No real tragedies but there have been some dishes which have turned out as planned or ending up changing into something else because the original failed and there have also been some biscuits only dad would eat.

Honey Crunch Pecan Pie
I have never made a pecan pie before and so i decided to try this one because it had good reviews. I am only 18 but i like cooking and the pie came out really well. I used a 10" tin and the pastry was sticking up about 3/4" above the topping but and i didn't bother about the aluminium foil around the edges because they weren't burning but then i found that the topping boiled over in the oven and made a real MESS of the oven. Next time i will be either using a deeper dish or putting foil under the dish in the oven so i don't have to clean toffee off the entire oven. But i will definitely be making it again.
