Crunchy French Toast Sticks

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2013
I have always used cornflake crumbs for making anything crunchy from fried chicken to country fried steak, but I never would have thought to use it on french toast, what a Great Idea! I loved it.

Grandma's Doughnuts

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
I've used refrigerator biscuits to make doughnuts for many years, but I don't use a deep fryer. I use a cast iron skillet with 1/2 inch oil. It works just fine.

Cold Corn Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
My family has been making something similar to this for years. As a time saver we use canned mexicorn that already has the peppers in it. But the addition of cucumber is new to us. We also sometimes add diced avocado(we have an avocado tree).

Coffee Ice Cream Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Fantastic! But this is not a cake, it is a pie, also, a kitchen torch will toast the marshmallows nicely without melting the ice cream.

Grilled Tri-Tip

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I would have given it 5 stars but TOO MUCH SALT. Two Tbs. salt is plenty for this rub and use garlic powder not garlic salt, no need to salt it twice.

Potato Logs

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Try placing the potatoes in the refrigerator for an hour or two after they have been shaped into logs or balls. They will firm up and be much easier to handle when breading.(I used cornflake crumbs instead of breadcrumbs)Great way to use left over mashed potatoes.

Coconut Bon Bons

To all those having trouble keeping the balls on the toothpicks, try putting them in the freezer for an hour instead of the fridge. They will get firmer and hold on to the toothpicks better. This recipe is just like my favorite candy bar.

My Mom's Sausage and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
Excellent recipe. The quantity was skimpy for a family dinner so I bumped up the rice to 1 1/4 cups, water to 5 cups and 2 envelopes soup mix....plenty for a hungry family

I used 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and 2 eggs...Yum! and just to spice it up, the second time I added two teaspoons espresso powder..very good! Tip: Hide a slice for yourself or you won't get any.

Peppermint Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
As is I would have given it 4 stars. But with my changes this recipe rocks. Simply add six drops red food coloring for a nice pink tone and replaced 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract with peppermint extract. WOW! What a difference!
