Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2007
These were pretty good. The texture wasn't my absolute favorite and they were kind of plain, but they're great with butter and jam or dipped in soup. This is a nice basic recipe.

Chocolate Caramel Candy

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
These were very good, although very sweet. They are best cut in small pieces. The only thing about them I don't like is that the bottom layer does not come up off the pan very well...but making sure they are very thoroughly chilled before cutting helps some.

Layered Macaroni Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
This casserole was great! Next time I will increase the amounts of seasonings, however. I don't really like oregano, so I substitued Italian seasoning for some of the oregano in this recipe. I also used Italian seasoned bread crumbs on top instead of plain. I'll be making this again, thanks for sharing the recipe!

Thick Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2007
This pudding was okay...it was fast and easy, but the taste wasn't really my favorite. I used 1/2 cup of sugar as others had suggested, and any less than that would be too little. I would also recommend reducing the amount of vanilla.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
These were pretty good, especially with rasberries and whipped cream. They weren't really any different from any other buttermilk pancake recipe though, and I think I'll go back to my old standby. I did add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla to these, and I would recommend not doing that, although they would be better with a little more salt--maybe 1 1/4 teaspoons instead of 3/4.

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
With a few changes, these were great! I used the whole packet of ranch mix but added a 3 oz. pack of cream cheese as well. I used Mexican shredded cheese, added bacon bits, and used a whole red bell pepper instead of just 1/2 cup. This recipe covered 6 tortillas for me. I also chilled them for a few hours before slicing them.

Raspberry Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
These bars were fantastic, and the recipe worked out perfectly. The only thing was the jam was kind of hard to spread on top of the cream cheese layer; next time I am going to try to put it in a pastry bag and drizzle it instead of spreading it. I did have to bake both the bottom crust and the assembled bars a little longer than the recipe instructed, but that may have been just my oven. Anyway, I got good feedback on these, and can't wait to try them again!

Peanut Butter Mini Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
I made these muffins several months ago, and just discovered the recipe again here online. As I remember they were pretty good, but nothing really special. My sister and brother liked them, but my dad, who loves peanut butter, didn't really care for them.

Lime Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
These muffins definitely taste like lime! They are very unique. I had to add some extra milk and oil to the batter before baking them because the batter was too dry. They turned out pretty well.

Lemon Raspberry Jumbo Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
I have made these muffins several times, and they are delicious--especially with some lemon zest added to the batter. This recipe works out perfectly "as is".

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
This chicken was like everyone said it would be--very moist and tender. Although my family loved this chicken, the spice rub wasn't my absolute favorite. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. I will definitely be making this chicken again, and trying this slow cooking method for other roast chicken recipes.

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
I followed the advice of various other reviewers plus made a few little changes myself when making this recipe, and it turned out great! I assembled and baked this recipe all at the same time, and did not refridgerate overnight. I baked it at 375 degrees for just over an hour, and covered it for about the first 30 minutes. I did not put the cheese on until the last 20 minutes. In place of the mushrooms and bacon, I used 2 red bell peppers and ham, and substitued 1/2 cup of heavy cream for a 1/2 c. of the milk. I used one instead of two onions, and I also used 7 eggs rather than 4 and added some dill with the salts and pepper. I don't think this recipe would earn a 5 star rating if the instructions are followed, but with these changes, it's great and I will definitely be making it again.

Delicious Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2006
I made just a few little changes to this recipe, and it was great! I brushed the egg and rosemary on after the second rise (and used only 1/2 T. rosemary for the topping). I also added one minced garlic clove to the dough when I was mixing it and sprinkled a little seasoned and garlic salt on the loaves with the rosemary. I think that the salt really enhanced the flavor, and the bread was really good dipped in olive oil with pepper.

Bacon Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
This chowder was pretty good. I used half chicken broth and half water. I had to add more potatoes than the recipe called for, though. Be sure to cook the bacon thouroughly with the celery and onion before you add the water, potatoes, corn, etc. so it's not soggy!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
This foccacia was pretty good, but I have had better. It had too much thyme, and besides that, wasn't really that flavorful. I would definitely recommend substituting some minced garlic for a portion of the garlic powder as well. The texture was very good though, and it was easy to make. I've made it twice--first as a foccacia and then as a pizza crust. I'll try experimenting with the herbs a bit next. This foccacia is worth a try!

Good Dog Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2006
These cookies were easy to make, and my dog really liked them! I was expecting a crunchy biscuit-type treat, but they turned out kind of soft--like a cookie, I guess.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
These muffins were very good. I added a little vanilla for more flavor, and had to bake them for 25 minutes, not 20. They were maybe a little on the moist/soft side, but my family and I really liked them.
