Pani Popo (Hawaiian Coconut Bread)

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
Yummy and easy! We actually wanted MORE milk in the pan! This Samoan dish is supposed to be wet and sticky. That's why it's so good. Great recipe.

Onion Rings

Surprisingly good. It came out better dredging the onions in flour before dipping it in the pancake batter. Yum!

Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
Mmm Mmm Good! This cake is absolutely wonderful. The batter is just perfect. Like another reviewer, I used a bit of lemon flavor. I also used a tube pan, only putting plums in the pan and placing blueberries around the plate after the cake was done. The recipe really needs no modification unless you want the lemon flavor. Great recipe.

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
Sorry, but too many modifications have to be made to make this a good recipe. The worst part is the crust, because even if it turns out right, it's jsut too much. I thought the bars were about to burn, but even after several hours in the refrigerator, they weren't set. Yes, oven times and temperatures vary, but the ingredient proportions are not good.

Baked Tofu Bites

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
They were okay, but much too salty. I had to eat them with a salad, which wasn't too bad. I probably won't make this recipe again.

Mom's Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
Pretty good and tasty, but a bit too sugary. Believe it or not, a little bit of water helps the sauce come together if the sugar and butter don't come together. It tasted a lot better the second day. 5-stars for leftovers!

Mother's Day Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2006
Very good -- actually better than I expected. Tastes great with fruit toppings. I made one with homemade cranberry sauce on top, and another with a caramel/walnut/coconut topping. The sky is the limit. (Well, I made one with pineapple that wasn't so good... )

Coconut (Haupia) and Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Wonderful! This pie is great because none of the flavors are individually overpowering, but they come together very nicely. Topped with toasted coconut and chopped chocolate, the presentation is beautiful with very little effort.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
Wow, what a disappointment. The recipe on the back of a bag of chocolate chips is much better than this recipe. They are very bland (which is an easy problem to fix) and very thick. Quite a deceptive title for a recipe.
