Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I cannot believe key lime pie is so easy! This is wonderful, my dad goes crazy for it. I usually add some extra juice and zest for a more limey taste. Will be making this often I'm sure!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
These taste great and the batter is really nice and thick so the blueberries don't sink to the bottom. I tried them at first without a sugary topping, but they were a bit bland. The next time I made them, I added half a lemon's worth of zest and the topping. WAY better. Also great with just course sugar on top. These do tend to be crumbly and fall apart but I never mind because they taste so good.

Gluehwein

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
This wasn't as good as I was hoping. I didn't really taste any of the spices, and I added extra. It was just warm wine for the most part. Took it to a Christmas Eve party and not many people drank it.

Unstuffing Side Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
Very yummy and so easy! I might go without the sausage next time because I just really enjoy the veggies and bread. I didn't need as much broth as was called for. I just added it little by little until it was moist.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
Great recipe! The pudding was amazing (made from scratch is always better). I used flour and didn't have a problem with a 'floury' taste or texture. I did use less sugar (1/2 cup) and also added two mashed bananas to the custard after it was cooked. I melted some semi-sweet chocolate chips and put that in the bottom of my crust, followed by a layer of sliced bananas, then put the pudding in. I used the three egg whites and made meringue for the top. The result, a very pretty and delicious pie! Because of the meringue, I did bake the pie at 325 until golden. No problems with runny filling. Will definately use this as my standard banana pie recipe!

Traditional Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
My first time making a stuffed pepper and it was simple as can be! Came out great. I opted for a longer baking time rather than pre-boil the pepper because I like to give all the flavors time to meld together in the oven. Used tomato soup instead of sauce. Topped the pepper off with cheddar cheese. Delish, I will make this again.

Thanksgiving Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I made this as a Thanksgiving breakfast bread. It is so moist and the flavors are wonderful! I used Craisins and also added chopped walnuts and everyone loved it. I didn't have the size bread pans indicated by the recipe but it fit fine into 1 pan 9 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 2 1/2. Will be making this again!!

Butternut Squash, Apple, Onion Au Gratin

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I was a bit underwhelmed by this but I think it was because in the Thanksgiving whirlwind of cooking, I forgot to add the cheese on top. Without it, the dish is a bit bland but I fully intend on trying this again sometime with the cheese. My family did enjoy it so I suppose I can't really complain!

Cranberry Chutney I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Everyone absolutely RAVED about this! It was so flavorful and the apple-cider vinegar gave it a nice twist (but I only used 1/3 cup). I loved that it wasn't just cranberries, the other fruits gave nice textures and the apples balanced out the tartness of the cranberries. I used whole cranberry sauce instead of fresh cranberries and it turned out fine, I just had to boil it down longer because of the extra fluid. Will definately be making this for future Thanksgivings!

Cranberry Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Really loved this cake, as did the rest of my family. I added 1/2 cup of Craisins to the batter because I wanted more cranberry flavor and it turned out great. The frosting is very soft but all I did was leave the cake in the fridge until I was ready to serve and the icing firmed up just fine.

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
This tasted great; I made it as a Thanksgiving desert. It was very delicate and tended to fall apart when I served it but no one seemed to mind! I made a simple syrup with brandy to pour on as a sauce and everyone loved it. I would make this again.

I stuffed a confetti squash and put this out as a pre-meal dip with crackers and celery on Thanksgiving. Everyone liked it. An easy dish with a nice presentation.
