About this Cook
I'm a horse trainer and really love seeing people enjoy my food. I've been known to repay favors with baked goods!
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast and dessert.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every summer, my mother's side of the family gets together for homemade plum dumplings (a dessert which we turn into a dinner). My mom's Cincinnati chili is better than Skyline (at least I think so). Some of my favorite family meals are what my father calls "peasant food": chicken paprikash and cabbage and noodles.
My cooking triumphs
I have become the Thanksgiving dinner cook in my family, which I love since it's my favorite holiday.
My cooking tragedies
Don't have anything I consider a tragedy...knock on wood.

Amish White Bread
I chose this recipe as my first foray into bread baking and I'm so glad I did! Thank you to all the reviewers who helped me make he decision! This is super easy and comes out delicious! I did not need the full 6 cups of flour, I end up using about 5 1/2. I also took the suggestions to cut the sugar by half, and I personally would not want the bread any sweeter. The rises took longer than the recipe states but I just know to make bread on a day I'm in no hurry. This is my standard recipe! I love how it can be changed up without affecting the end result. I made with half wheat flour and some flax meal last time and it came out just as perfect as the original. Cannot say enough good things!!

Key Lime Pie VII
I cannot believe key lime pie is so easy! This is wonderful, my dad goes crazy for it. I usually add some extra juice and zest for a more limey taste. Will be making this often I'm sure!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
These taste great and the batter is really nice and thick so the blueberries don't sink to the bottom. I tried them at first without a sugary topping, but they were a bit bland. The next time I made them, I added half a lemon's worth of zest and the topping. WAY better. Also great with just course sugar on top. These do tend to be crumbly and fall apart but I never mind because they taste so good.
