About this Cook
We live in a beautiful suburb of San Francisco. I have two daughters that I love to cook for. My youngest is nine and always helps me cook dinner. She's quite the little chef and every once in a while will now make dinner for us on her own.
My favorite things to cook
My oldest daughter loves meatballs and meatloaf so I enjoy making these things for her. My youngest will eat anything that is made from chicken which is great since I love chicken too. I've recently been on a soup making kick which my daughter loves to take to school in a thermos. I'm up for almost any new pasta recipe and love trying new and creative recipes for vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making tamales with my grandmother and huge extended family for Christmas. Nothing beats tamale day with my mom and grandma. I also enjoy a baking day with my youngest daughter once a year for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
The best chicken noodle soup. I've got my recipe down so well and it's a hit every time I make it. My stroganoff is also very good and I make delicious chicken enchiladas in verdi (green) sauce.
My cooking tragedies
I made lasagna for my family when I was about twelve and the top of the dried onions container came off while I was seasoning the sauce. Well, I didn't know that just mixing it in so you couldn't see all the onions wouldn't work. You can only imagine the outcome. The funniest part though is that my family suffered through it since I was only 12 and was so proud of myself for making lasanga for dinner by myself. They still remind me of this to this day.

Chinese Cold Pasta Salad
I really felt like this one lacked flavor. I also think it needed some sort of oil or something and I tend to like things with very little fat. This one just didn't do it for me. Sorry. =(

Mini Crescent Dogs
I make these almost every Christmas Eve and they are always a hit and are never around for long. I'm not sure where I learned this, but I serve them with a mayo mustard dip. I take maybe a cup of mayonaise and just stir in maybe 1/4 (total est.) and stir it. I add the mustard in small batches until I achieve the taste I'm looking for where you can taste the mustard, but it's not overwhelming. The dip always goes over really well too. My sister likes Miracle Whip instead of mayo so we make a batch using it in place of the mayo too. Always a hit!

Homemade Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
I didn't quite love these. I think they were just way too sweet and I tend to like things sweet. If you do make them, I filled a large plastic bag with the frosting and then turned over half of them and lined them up. I then piped in a large glob of frosting on each and then used the remaining cookies to top them. I'm sure it saved a ton of time to do it this way and piping the icing was way faster than if I would have tried to scoop it in.
