Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2006
I always knew my husband loved chili, but neither of us knew how much until I tried this recipe. He's still raving about how good it was 3 days later and asking me when I'm making more. I've decided I'm going to make up batches of the mix to include in my Christmas packages this year, along with a bunch of other goodies I'm making.

Pumpkin Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
These turned out to be be really tasty. My husband was skeptical when I first told him what they were, but after one bite he was hooked. I did add some additional spices, mainly nutmeg & cloves, and it was a nice flavor. I would definitely half the amount of filling. I've got tons left over.

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
My whole family really liked this dish. It was a smidge bland for my tastes so I'll probably add a little something with kick to heighten the flavor a bit next time. Will definitely make again.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
I'm not a huge pork chop fan because they're usually either smothered in some sort of sauce or too dry for my liking. This was a perfect recipe. Totally juicy and flavorful, great seasoning and so tender. I did uncover the pan and broil for about 10 minutes right before taking them out of the oven just to brown them up a bit and it was perfect.

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
So pleasantly surprised by how tasty this was, coupled with it's ease. An easy 5 stars. The only thing I did differently was add the finest dusting of garlic powder in addition to the oregeno, salt and pepper. Will be making this many more times in the future!

Herbed Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is a great recipe. I did make some substitutions because I didn't have dill or sage on hand. I used garlic, oregeno, and basil instead. I think the beauty of this recipe is that you could use whatever herbs or spices appeal to you. The bread was delicate, and rose nicely. Not too dense. I made mine into rolls and served it with a homemade soup. Everyone loved it! I wanted to update this and say that I made this again this weekend for a church luncheon (I used fresh chives and parsley this time) and decided to add small cubes of cheddar cheese to the dough. WOW, took a really good recipe and made it out-of-this-world tasty!

I was hestitant to try this recipe because it uses sausage instead of ham, but I'm really glad I did try it. I made this for a church lunheon today and it was a big hit. I got a lot of compliments on it. Perfect!

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
I'll admit the name of this recipe turned me off at first. But since there were so many good reviews, I decided to try it. Wow, am I glad I did. This was a HUGE hit at my church luncheon today. I changed up a couple of things. I didn't have onion soup mix on hand, so I used italian seasoning & garlic powder. I also added a little bit of cumin and some red pepper flakes just to add a little kick. It made a big difference--the soup went from really good to fantastic. I also added a bit of corn, which was a nice addition. Great soup. Really surpassed my expectations!

Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
This was the best cake I've ever had, hands down. Wow! Super moist, buttery, light, just perfect! I made a glaze for it with cinnamon, allspice, confectioners sugar, melted butter and vanilla & spooned it over the top while warm. Everyone raved. This is my new standard recipe for all cake occasions.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
I followed the advice of other reviewers and added the additional 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, and cut the salt to 1/2 a tsp. I omitted the nuts because my kids prefer them without. These were beyond fabulous. A tiny bit crunchy on the edges and chewy in the middle. A perfect blend of chocolate and oatmeal. YUM!!!
