Chicken with Garlic, Basil, and Parsley

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
This was just OK. It seemed like it would turn out so much tastier than it did. Maybe using fresh herbs would be a better way to go, since you're already using fresh tomatoes. The dried basil, especially, tasted harsh for some reason. I don't know, but I will not be making this again.

Melon Ice Candy

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2013
I am not a cantaloupe fan, but my family thinks these are great. However, I can only imagine the recipe's originator must have ice pop molds that each are the size of a paint can, because I filled my 18 Tupperware molds and 35 of the 3 oz. paper cups before I ran out. Two quarts of water and four pounds of cantaloupe is a LOT.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
This is a great basic coffee cake recipe. It's simple and good, and all the ingredients are things I usually have on hand. A winner!

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
My whole family loved this recipe. I wasn't sure if it was seasoned enough, but one taste disabused me of that notion. This will become a staple chicken recipe at our house because I always have all the ingredients.

Freshly Fresh Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2013
I was unimpressed with this recipe. Despite going through about half a dozen paper towels to dry the strawberries (I had a bad experience with a batch of peach muffins where the peaches were too wet), the muffins turned out soggy. They would be better if they had a streusel topping or something. But they were pretty uninspiring.

Drunk Monkey Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2013
These were just OK. The Jack Daniels didn't seem to add anything to the muffins and the addition of the coconut and chocolate chips made them better than standard banana muffins but really nothing special.

Lasagna Roll Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
We thought this was fantastic. We like tofu at our house, but if you have someone who doesn't, make this recipe and they will never know. Like some others, I found the filling to be a little bland, so next time I probably will add some garlic powder to jazz it up. I'm not sure where the recipe submitter got the idea that this could fit in a 9X13 pan; with a full pound of lasagna noodles, it yielded that much plus an 11X7 pan I put in the freezer for another time.

Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2013
We all loved these cookie bars. Made them without the nuts, as we're not fans, but otherwise as directed. I printed this recipe many years ago, so the version I used was slightly different (says it was submitted by Hershey's Kitchens instead of Eagle Brand), but it's the same recipe. I wasn't able to find Skor baking bits, as my copy of the recipe calls for (do they make those anymore?), but I used a combination of Heath bits (with chocolate) and the almond brickle toffee chips and they turned out fine. Better the next day, after the flavors have had a chance to blend.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
This was a huge hit in our house. Our four-year-old, who we usually have to struggle to get to eat one helping of something, ate SIX helpings of this. I definitely will make this again.

Yum! We made these for Christmas Eve appetizers and they were a big hit with all ages. Definitely will make again.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2012
My husband and son made these with raisins instead of currants last Sunday. What a great recipe! I would have been very skeptical of a shortcut cinnamon roll recipe if I had seen it first, but I'm glad my husband decided to go for it because these were very tasty. The only thing I didn't like about them were the raisins, but that's just my personal preference.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
We all loved this recipe. However, my husband and I, who ate the most, both got sick after eating it. I'm thinking that our chicken breasts, which were partially frozen and whole, didn't get cooked the whole way through at 6 hours on low. If I were to make this again I would probably defrost the chicken fully and cut it up before cooking it.

Coconut Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2012
What a good coconut cake recipe. It is very rich and full of coconut flavor. The only problem I had was with the baking time. It ended up taking closer to one hour and 40 minutes or so, making me wonder if the temperature is correct (seems a bit low). Or maybe it is just my oven and I need to make some adjustments. At any rate, we really enjoyed this. Thanks!

Baked Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
I didn't think these were anything special, unfortunately. I thought with the Italian breadcrumbs and Parmesan they would be better than most nuggets, but sadly these were way too salty for us.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
Tastes just like the dish you order at a Chinese restaurant. I used venison, as that's what we had, and overcooked it just slightly. But that did not much take away from the flavor of this dish. Highly recommended.

Truly Key Lime Pie Ice Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
The taste on this recipe is superb; just be sure to use bottled key lime juice--it tastes just a bit different from "regular" lime juice. I failed miserably at getting this to thicken in the ice cream freezer--maybe it was too hot? And my Cuisinart machine proved unequal to the task of breaking up the graham crackers, so I partially froze the ice cream and smashed the crackers with the side of a metal spoon. It came out a little bit grainy, but as I said, the flavor was great: just like eating a frozen key lime pie.

Tomato Pie I

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
Yum! This was an excellent way to use tomatoes from our garden. I would agree with the people who said to drain the tomatoes before making this, as they do get the crust rather soggy if you don't. There's no reason to peel them, though, so I didn't.
