Yummy Pecan Pralines

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
I followed the recipe EXACTLY, and will warn you that "Heat without stirring (over medium heat) . . ." will leave a burned layer on the bottom of your pan! I did use dark brown sugar as the recipe didn't specify between dark or light brown. These came out chewy rather than "first bite crispy then melt in your mouth" that I'm used to. If I still can't find my lost "go to" recipe and make this again, next time I'll use light brown sugar and give it an occasional stir until soft ball stage reached. The amount of pecans seemed just fine; it's just a matter of preference.

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
I made the cocoa version, but took followed another reviewer's suggestion and substituted one cup of the water with one cup of hot coffee. It came out light brown in color and "fluffy". Would be OK to dip strawberries in (as a dip not a coating), but didn't make me say YUM as a cake frosting. I recently moved and have yet to unpack my favorite recipes, so I'll continue to search for antother frosting recipe until I can find that box!!!

Creamy Potato and Leek Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
Very good! Did need to thin it out a little as it was like mashed potatoes, but great flavor.

Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
Took the advice of others and added 1/2 cup milk & 1/2 cup white wine, onions & garlic. Followed cooking directions, but chops weren't delicious or tender, and extra liquid made the gravy too watery. Disappointed.

Kim's Ultimate Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I made this exactly as listed except I used ground beef instead of lamb. I must say I was disappointed. I have to agree with others that the water should have been omitted. Even then, though, I'm not sure this would have been a keeper. It just didn't have that zing or tongue "WOW" factor.

Inside-Out Manicotti

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2007
I made this last night as per the recipe with the only change being I added 1# hamburger meat and used small, short tube macaroni which I did cook beforehand, and 20 minutes was enough time for the casserole to heat through. I agree with CharityBoo it was rather bland. My family hardly made a dent in it. If I make it again, I'll try ZChef's suggestions to spice up the sauce which was just enough. Can't understand why some say it makes too much sauce unless they didn't measure the noodles by weight but by a measuring cup. It does make a difference!
