Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2012
Perfect recipe - and I forgot the butter! I didn't read the steps closely enough and assumed the butter was for the pan only. Never ended up in my batter and I used a quick spray of cooking oil in the pan. These were delicious and quick and easy. My first one I had to throw out because I had my pan too hot, but the rest were great :)

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
I love this recipe - super easy and has great flavor. My only change is to use 3/4 cup of Marsala instead of 1/2 cup Marsala and 1/4 cup sherry. Delicious!

Quinoa Tabbouleh

Delicious! Per some of the other suggestions, I added some feta cheese. It rounded it out perfectly. YUM!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
These are delicious as written, but next time I think I might add some vanilla to the batter. It lacked a little *something* for my taste, and I think that might be it. Overall, a delightful little muffin. They come out of the oven looking like they belong in a magazine - thanks for the great recipe! *UPDATE* Second time I made them I added a tsp of vanilla to the batter and an extra banana. Even better this way!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
Great base recipe - I used a little less tahini and a little of the saved bean "juice". I also just added the olive oil and paprika to the mixture instead of drizzling on top. Delicious!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
I much prefer the Chicken Tortilla Soup II recipe on this site. This one was just ok - nothing too exciting. The other recipe is WOW. Tastes like a restaurant quality soup.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
Very good! My changes: used 4 cups chicken stock instead of half stock/half water. I also used a 28 oz can of San Marzano crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. Great, fresh flavor and hearty too.

Chicken Tortilla Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
THIS is the tortilla soup recipe I've been looking for! Fresh, simple flavors and hearty to boot! I like to let it cook a little longer so the tortillas "melt" completely into the soup and thicken it up. Gives it great flavor. Thanks for a wonderful recipe! Update: have made this several times now and two things I will definitely do from now is is 1.) add a can of black beans, and 2.) use San Marzano crushed tomatoes instead of just diced. I still LOVE this soup!!

Best Brussels sprouts I've ever had. My non-sprout eating husband went back for seconds. Thanks for a great dish!

Best Black Beans

Exactly what I was looking for when I went looking for a black bean recipe. They are spicy though, so you might want to cut the cayenne back if you are serving to kids or others who don't appreciate the heat factor!

Simple Turkey Chili

Great recipe! The whole family (including the 5 and 2 year olds) love it and it's not too spicy for them. Perfect with cornbread.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Very flavorful soup - used diced tomatoes instead of crushed, but otherwise followed to the letter. Used balsamic vinegar as the vinegar and it was wonderful. Gave it a nice deep flavor. I will definitely be adding this to our soup rotation!

Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
Made this soup today and it's very good! I actually just threw everything in the crock pot (uncooked rice, cooked and shredded rotisserie chicken, then all the veggies and spices and broth and cream of mushroom soup) and let it cook on low all day. There was absolutely no need to thicken it with the roux (and I was happy to leave out that extra fat!) - the rice thickened it beautifully in the slow cooker. I actually ended up adding more broth near the end, as it was almost too thick! Nice flavor and hearty soup. Will make again.

Potato Leek Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I give this recipe 5 stars because it's great to find a lower fat version of this recipe! It's a good, solid potato leek soup - nothing fancy, but you won't believe that it doesn't have any milk or cream in it. I used only a TBSP of butter to saute the leeks (as I am on a low fat diet) plus a little olive oil, and that's all the fat in the whole thing. Healthy, hearty and DELICIOUS! I will add, though, that 6 cups of stock was not nearly enough liquid. I ended up adding 2 more cups while cooking and then another cup or so of water to thin the soup out to the correct consistency. Great with crusty bread on a cold night.

Fantastic! I'm on a gluten-free, dairy-free diet, and these cookies fit the bill. Delicious and easy to make - highly addictive, though. Consider yourself warned!

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
This cake is absolutely delicious and very versatile. I can only really rate the cake, as I did not choose to make the frosting, but the cake - oh, the CAKE! Such great texture and amazing flavor. It's incredible what a tsp of almond extract can do for a cake. I've made it twice now - once as a sheet cake with chocolate frosting and once I poured it in two round cake pans and made a layer cake (and had it with vanilla frosting from a can, whipped with a tsp of almond extract to complement the cake flavor). Both times were spectacular and I will make this cake again and again and again. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
Very good recipe. I had no margarine, so used butter. I will add more cocoa next time to give it an even more chocolatey flavor and DEFINITELY scrape the bottom to make sure you don't have any butter/cocoa residue left or it will appear as lumps later! Beautiful texture and appearance - definitely a keeper!

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
This was really good! I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and browned the butter a little before adding the soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Also swapped the amounts of those two so there was a TBSP of Balsamic and only a tsp of Soy. Had skinny asparagus, so they only had to bake for about 8 minutes. I then just threw them in the pan with the sauce, tossed to coat, and served. Delish!

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
This was just ok. It's certainly not an "authentic" tasting Cottage Pie, but it was a flavorful meal, once I tweaked it a little. Worcestershire sauce was a must and I will omit the cinnamon next time. Nutmeg would be more authentic anyway.
