Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2001
This recipe is great!! I love cabbage rolls but hate the time involved in making them. This recipe tasted great and was so easy to make. Our whole family loved it.

Sour Cream Raisin Pie V

Reviewed: May 7, 2003
This recipie was very good. There was not a scrap left by the end of the night. For spices, I used 1tsp of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, and a 1/4 tsp of cloves. I didn't have any cream of tarter for the merigune and it still turned out fine.

This recipie was good for a change but I don't think I'll make it again, we'll stick to our usual BBQ method.

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: May 31, 2003
Absolutely awesome. I have been looking for a beef dip recipie and this is it! I can't believe how simple it was to make either, I agree with the submitter - this recipe will be kept "secret". Seriously though, I really did enjoy this one, add it t o a family favorite list!

Summer Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2003
I loved this recipie. I didn't think my husband would like it because it mixes meat and fruit (a definate not with him) but he really liked it too. I served it on crossinats with fresh lettuce from the garden. I replaced the pecans with sliced almonds. Used 2 large chicken breasts, next time I'll use 3.

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
This was great as a gift... except I could not find unsweeted instant tea mix (I read a similar reviewer state the same, I'm also in Canada so could be same explaination). Simply instructed to add the mix to brewed tea. I was thinking about ommitting the sugar next time and instead adding sweetened tea mix such as "Good Host- Instant Iced Tea Mix" and seeing how that turns out.

Butternut Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
I like this recipie, but made a few changes as suggested by others... Instead of microwaving and then boiling, I cut in half, scooped out seeds and baked in oven halved side down until soft. Blended in a blender to make smooth puree. Used a 1/2 C Splenda, added 1tsp Cinnamon and 1/2tsp Nutmeg. For a topping I used 1/4C brown sugar, 1/8C butter and 2C Honey Bunches of Oats cereal (as suggested by another to use cornflakes, I used what I had on hand and loved the result). Will definately make again.

I really liked this recipie, although followed some other suggestions.... scaled back to 3 servings so used 1/2C honey and almost 1/2C mustard, ommited the basil and parsley and instead added dill. It was yummy! And the smell was was mouth watering!

Elaine's Sweet and Tangy Loose Beef BBQ

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
I cut the recipe in half and also took the sugestion to add a little BBQ sauce as well... I added about 1-2Tbsp BullsEye Bold Original to the water. Otherwise, LOVED this recipe, it is a KEEPER! However... definatley does take AT LEAST 4 hours before roast is tender enough to shred, so add that to your time.

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
WAY TOO SWEET!!! I like the taste and the fact that they are marshmellow and soft (no hard ball stage), but has anyone tried cutting down the sugar? Next time I don't think I would even put a third as much in. I also added the vanilla for more flavour and added M&M's.

Danish Rice Pudding with Almonds

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
We have this on Christmas Eve too, an old family favorite going back to my Grandmother's Aunt. Our recipie is basically the same but doubled - except fot the cream (Grandma mentioned she often halved the reciped though, so would be very similar!) Instead of sherry, we used 1/2 cup boiling water to dissolve the gelatin, and instead of vanilla we use almond extract. We also add 1/2 cup slivered almonds and 1 whole almond (the one who gets it gets the prize - usally a small box of chocolates or a christmas ornament). Instead of raspberries we use a strawberry sauce. One package of frozen sweetened berries, thawed, cooked with 2 Tbsp of cornstarch and 1/2 c water until thickened. I always tried to get the prize as a kid, eating 2 or 3 bowls until I was ready to burst. I still get teased by family every Christmas Eve when the pudding comes out after supper. Thanks for sharing.

Grandma's Sour Cream Raisin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Very good and easy. Did not add the nuts. Used both the cloves and a dash of nutmeg. A tip for an easy way to add some extra flavour, instead of boiling raisins in water, boil in orange juice and a little zest of orange. Great recipie.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Fabulous!!! Used brown sugar as other reviewers recommended, used 1 c white flour and 3/4c whole wheat flour for a little more fibre, and vanilla yogurt (just what I had on hand). Added to the recipie box and is a new family favourite.

Perfect Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
Really like this recipie, made just a few tiny changes. Didn't used french fried onions....instead chopped a medium onion and added to a frying pan with a little butter until translucent and then mixed into the macaroni. Used cream of celery soup instead of mushroom (my own aversion to mushrooms, but LOVED the cream of celery taste with the dill!), and then held back a little of the cheese to spinkle on top the last few minutes of baking. A keeper! have made this recipie many times and is now a fmaily fav!!!
