I broke one of my big rules ..... I "enhanced' this recipe based on a number of reviews before making it...... but, in my defense .... every change made sense ...... including: swapping reg. salt for seasoned; increasing flour to 1/3 C & putting the seasoned flour in a bag with the meat to coat then sautéing the beef in EVOO until browned. I added the onion then put it in the slow cooker. Next I mixed the beef broth with the worchestershire sauce & 1/2 C red wine to deglaze the browning pan. added that to the beef and ran it on "high" for 2 hours.
Then I cut up and added the potatoes & onions, added 2 cloves of garlic, 2 bay leaves, the remaining ingredients, a packet of McCormicks Beef Stew Seasoning, a C of water and dropped the temp to "low" for the next 4 hours ..... oh and the paprika I used was Hot Hungarian.
It was AWESOME. A slight "bite in the back of the throat, TENDER TENDER beef, thick gravy, tender veggies, and a great meal. I served it with crusty French bread ........... a REALLY good meal .... TRY IT!!!
UPDATE: It's even better the next day!!!
