Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
These are absolutely delicious!! I had to use canned whole cranberries because the store didn't have the fresh. After that I followed the recipe. It was not difficult to work with at all. I made half the batch in a square pan and half in mini muffin tins. They turned out wonderfully!

Ham, Potato, and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
I started with stewing a ham bone with carrots, onions and celery. I used the broth to cook the potatoes and followed the recipe after that. I served it with whole grain dinner rolls. My whole family loved this soup! The leftovers did not last long!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
I have been making banana bread for years from a recipe that I have modified to make my own. But, I decided to try something new. It is very delicious, very banana-y! Sometimes I don't have enough bananas, it takes about 5 large bananas, so I use applesauce to get the right amount. I also, substitute half the butter with applesauce. It makes it a little healthier. This is now my new banana bread recipe!

Garlic and Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
These burgers have so much flavor and are sooo... juicy! Beats a restaurant burger any day. The flavors blend better if refrigerated as called for, but, I've made them in a hurry without refrigerating and they turned out well, although, not quite as good. My husband really loved this with bacon and cheddar cheese.

Italian Roast Beef I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
To be honest, I was a little leary about trying this resipe, due to the amount of spices. I thought it was overdoing it. Boy, was I wrong! This has such a wonderful flavor! And the gravy I make from the drippings is very good as well. All I have to do is thicken it, no seasonings or salt as with a lot of other recipes. I always cook my vegetables with the meat for the last portion of the cooking time and it gives them great flavor. My family loves it.

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
I used fresh picked Washington peaches for the cobbler. I didn't change a thing in the recipe. It was very good, not too sweet and tasted wonderful with fresh whipped cream!

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
This is recipe makes the most tender and juicy chicken, especially the white meat! I followed the recipe with the exception of doubling the spices. I was a little leary of these spices and the sugar, but was definitely glad I had tried it! There was nothing left of the 6 lb. chicken! It fed 3 adults and 3 small children! It also makes the house smell wonderful! Definitely a keeper!

Pilgrim Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
This pie is the best I have ever eaten!! I love that it is a little healthier version with the honey. It looked beautiful, as well. The only thing I didn't do was the crust, I had already started my own recipe. I may try the crust next time. Definitely a keeper!

No More Salty Easter Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2007
I am giving this recipe only 4 stars because I didn't follow it exactly. I only added 1 c. milk, there was 1/4 in. in bottom of pan. I used about 1/4 lb. of brown sugar, it wasn't sticking to the ham very well. And I used 1 can of pineapple, which covered the ham very well. I also patted on a little more brown sugar on top of the pineapple. It turned out DELICIOUS!! The taste was perfect!! Definitely not too salty. Everybody loved it, especially my friend who is on a low sodium diet! I will absolutely make this again!

Classic Macaroni Salad

This macaroni salad is the best one I've made! It has just the right amount of zing vs. sweetness.

World's Best Scones! From Scotland to the Savoy to the U.S.

Reviewed: May 18, 2007
These were not as good as I had expected. These were ok, but the other recipe I made was so much better! This one just didn't have as much flavor, was impossible to roll and the texture wasn't quite right.

Lemon Blueberry Drop Scones

Reviewed: May 11, 2007
This was the first time I have made scones, and I was very surprised at how GOOD these are! They were all gone within a couple hours! I will defintely make these all the time!UPDATE: I have made these a couple more times and have found that using fresh blueberries are the BEST! You don't have to worry about the dough turning blue. Also, the baking time should be cut to 10-12 min. At 12 min. mine were starting to get a little too dark. But, still VERY good!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is the best chili I have ever made!! I usually don't make chili often because I have never found a good recipe, until now. I did, however, take the advice of others and use crushed tomates and tomato sauce instead of tomato juice. I think I might try it with a vegetable juice next time. For more nutritional value. I made it for my family and for a potluck and everybody loved it! There were NO leftovers!

Sauerkraut 'n' Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
Normally I don't do anything to my sauerkraut except cook the sausage in it. I don't even drain or rinse. So, I thought I would actually use a recipe. Almost everybody liked it, except my 2 year old she actually likes it better the other way I prepare it! I thought it was OK. It just did not satisfy my craving for sauerkraut because it was so sweet. If I make it again I probably won't rinse and will use some of the juice in place of the apple juice so it is not so sweet. And add more potatoes. I will use some things from this recipe.

Ultimate Spicy Spud Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
This recipe was very good. I made it the second time for a potluck. It had rave reviews! Although I made a few changes from the original recipe. I crush and mince the garlic and onion, cut the cayenne to 3/4 tsp., thicken with a little flour and left out the butter. We enjoyed it better this time with just the right amount of spice and great flavor! I serve it with shredded cheese and sourcream, for those who don't like it spicy, and with crusty bread or dinner rolls.
