I crock-potted this dish instead of boiling it, but otherwise followed the directions to a "T" and the beans were unbelievably bland. After cooking for 6 hours in the crock on low, the beans were not done (so FYI crockpot folks, you'll need more time) but at least I was able to catch the fact that they needed more seasonings. I ended up doubling the garlic, and salt,then added 2 bay leafs, turned the crock to high and let them cook another 5 hours. After adding the extra seasonings when the beans were done cooking they were amazing! I'm rating it 3 stars because of the lack of flavor, not the cooking time b/c that was my mistake.
