Chicken Paprika

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2014
I'm giving this 4 stars because I added a little Tajin for what we thought was missing flavor at the end. I did make two other changes----I used catsup rather than tomato paste, and I didn't use any cornstarch. I served this over pasta. This was a good meal. Thanks, Khall88!

Italian Lemon Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2014
I should preface this by saying that I've never had the restaurant version the submitter talks about. I wanted to like this more than I did, but most of my feelings about it have to do with wanting more lemon flavor (perhaps it isn't supposed to). Also, it was hard to cut to look good. It could be that the day I made this we had high humidity and even a few raindrops---unusual for a warm July day in SoCal. One mistake I made was to use parchment on the bottom of my springform pan---totally unnecessary and burdensome. I would maybe use half milk and half lemon juice in the cake itself, or at least use lemon flavoring in the cake topping. Another thought would be to spritz the top of the bottom layer of cake with a simple syrup made with lemon juice and sugar. I would use a little more lemon zest in the cream layer. I will try this again on another day! Thanks, CindyAnn!

Raspberry Lemonade Martini

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
Yes, it IS sweet---just as it was reported to be. If you don't like sweet, you won't like this. I do think I'd rather have it on the rocks, and just maybe I'll try it the next time without the simple syrup! But you can't go wrong with these ingredients! Thanks, cjm378!

Mom's Dill Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
This was pretty good. It was lacking in color and so maybe an invitation to eat it because of that. But it was good. I think maybe I'm not a fan of Beau Monde and so will make this next time with a different seasoned salt and the whole green onion! Kate, I'm pretty sure my mom used to make something very similar to this, too! Thanks for the reminder!

Chicken Florentine Salad with Orzo Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2014
I used arugula rather than spinach (I had everything else on hand), and that was the only major change I made. The olive oil I used was lemon olive oil, and I used leftover beer butt chicken rather than grilled. I toasted the pine nuts (put them in a pan on stovetop in low heat until barely browned). We thought this was delicious. The only thing I would worry about would be that there wasn't enough of that wonderful dressing. I'm not sure because I made such a small batch and we didn't even eat all of that, but I would want a little more dressing than it called for, so maybe a recipe and a half of that? It'd be good on any other salad, so that would work for me! Thanks for a great salad, EMILIEWASMYEVE!

Classic Daiquiri

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2014
This is a perfect, classic daiquiri! My lime was quite tart, so it needed a tad more sugar, but that's easy to fix! Thanks for posting this, Patrick Washburn!

Cake and Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2014
This is one heck of a dessert drink! Yum! Yum! I thought it would be too sweet, so I almost didn't put in the sugar--but it all works out well. Thanks so much, superwoman!

Bacon, Avocado, and Pepperjack Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2014
The only thing I did differently was to use sourdough sandwich bread that is thinner than what the recipe called for. I put the cheese next to the bread on both slices, and I used the same pan (wiped out) that I used for frying the bacon. I'd recommend that if you also use thinner bread like this that your food all be at room temperature so the cheese will melt appropriately! Thanks for a very yummy lunch!

White Fiber Mini Shells with Cherry Tomatoes, Basil and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2014
This is a very easy salad to make, and it's tasty, too! We did like the mini fiber shells and will look forward to using the pasta again! Thanks for an easy side dish, Barilla!

Hammin' Up The Waldorf

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2014
I made this using regular mayo and Jazz apples, and I didn't add parsley. I added walnuts, grapes, and golden raisins. The dressing for this salad is too liquidy for my taste. I wondered how it would be to use orange juice concentrate instead of the juice. How can you go too wrong with the ingredients?! Thanks, Vicki Pierce!

Thin Spaghetti with Garlic, Red Pepper and Olive Oil

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2014
I liked this a lot, and I say that even though I had difficulty getting the cheese to stick to the pasta. The pasta itself is excellent! I did mince the garlic, and because I didn't have parsley on hand I subbed fresh basil. My dinner guests and I didn't leave any leftovers of this! Thanks, Barilla!

Lemon Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2014
This was better today than it was yesterday, so a day makes a lot of difference for me. The lemon part is REALLY good, but last night I didn't hold much hope for the crescent roll part. The directions are easy to follow, and the cooking time is right on the mark. Thanks, PAM29922!

Gluten Free Rotini with a Charred Green Onion Pesto, Toasted Cashews and Cranberries

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2014
The star of this dish is certainly the pesto, but it did not carry this dish enough for us. It is very easy to fix (I used my Smart Stick to mix up the pesto because I made a small batch). I was able to share the box of gluten-free pasta with someone who needs to use it; I can be very happy to go back to regular pasta--and I almost always buy Barilla because it's the best in the grocery store (in my opinion).

Simple Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
I chose to do two things differently from the recipe: I used the pasta that I had on hand (Radiatori) and I didn't cut up the chicken. Otherwise, I followed the directions. I kind of knew that this would not have a great deal of flavor because of the ingredients which are very easy to have on hand. The mushroom soup I used was an organic soup from Sprouts (no MSG). I seasoned the chicken with Papa's Seasoning from this site, and it was done in 45 minutes. After I finished baking it and taking my photo, I did add some corn salsa from Trader Joe's to increase the flavor. I would think that this would be a great dish to serve to people who need a diet with little seasoning and to little kids. This recipe certainly has its place in Allrecipes' archives! Thank you, PRISSY68!

Deb's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2014
This was very nice. I did not have any thawed bacon but had the rest of the ingredients with the exception of Granny Smith apple (I used a Jazz variety). My chicken needed more flavor, so salt and pepper were very necessary! Thanks for a quick and easy dinner tonight, GRANDMADEB!

Mexican Peach

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2014
I thought this would be too sweet with the margarita mix and the schnapps, but it's not at all! I really like this combination! Right after I took my photo, though, I got rid of the ice! I prefer my drinks like this straight up. Thanks, klynn21! I'll be making this one again! It's a great summer drink!

Lucky's Quickie Chickie

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2014
I used Costco's organic chicken breasts sliced horizontally, and I always put a little butter in with the olive oil to brown just because I love the color so much. Instead of just salt and pepper, I seasoned with Papa's Seasoning from this site, but otherwise I followed the directions. This really fit the bill for tonight's dinner, and it was just as advertised---quick and delicious! Thank you so very much, Lucky Noodles!

Garlic Lemon Butter Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2014
Basically this is a poached salmon---yummy as a main dish, but I bet it's even better cooled on a salad. I used all the ingredients but in smaller proportions. I skinned the bottom of my salmon so that the butter/garlic on the bottom of the dish could seep into the salmon from that side. I thought that the amount of water/lemon juice may have been a little too much because I didn't even use all of that. I will try it again without even using the water but just the butter, garlic, and lemon juice. I was afraid of the high heat with my dish, so I did only cook it at 425 but a little longer. I kept thinking of capers with this, but then that's a whole different dish! This was very good, so thanks, Jim M!

Kick'N Chicken with Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2014
Excellent! I used Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute for the chicken seasoning. I added a little Anaheim chile to the salsa because it's a mild chile (had to be careful for another eater in my family), but I like heat in my salsa! I made the salsa this morning, and I put the chicken in the marinade about 3 hours before grilling it. I will be making this again because it is a very nice low-cal low-fat meal! Thank you, Mazola!

Easy Watermelon Martini

What's not to love about this? My watermelon isn't very sweet, so it really needs just a touch of sugar. This is a nice summer drink. Thanks, Genevieve!
