Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
I've never tried a stuffed pepper before. The recipe was quick and easy, and I LOVED it. Will definitely make in the future. Changes to recipe I made: I didn't add Italian seasoning, because I don't care for it, and I added a bit more garlic because I love garlic. I also added a little bit of mozzarella cheese on top. It was excellent.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
These were.... okay. Just ho hum. Granted, it was my first time having any sweet potatoes at all, so I don't have a base line to judge from. I found I did like the vegetable, but this was a little bland. I added some generic seasoning blend and it was better.

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
I added a lot of vanilla and more sugar. Ended up being one of the most dense waffles I've ever had. Flavor's not bad, but will not be making again.

Shepherd's Pie II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
I've tried shepard's pie recipes before and have been horribly dissapointed, but this was great. Not only did my house smell great while cooking, but even the picky eaters of my family came back for seconds. I did add a little cheese on top, and the next time I make it I will add some seasoning directly to the potatoes on the top layer (the main complaint of the house was they were too bland), but this is definitely going in the rotation at our house.

Au Gratin Beef Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
It was all right. Very bland, actually, even after I seasoned it. It just wasn't a particularly exciting dish. Bottom line: edible, but I don't think I'd ever make it again.

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
Very good for not having to bake them. I put them in a muffin tin though, to get more of an even shape. Everyone loved them and I had to make another batch the next day!

Dad's Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
I've been looking for a recipe for good pad thai for a while now, constantly disappointed with the ones available, and this was no different. I will NEVER make this again.

Beer Lime Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
It was very good! Tender, moist, and full of flavor. Unfortunately for me it still tasted like beer, which I didn't enjoy overly, but my family LOVED it, and immediately requested to have it again!

Leftover Chicken a la King

Excellent! Very quick and easy, and my family loved it, even my picky son! It was just like how my grandma used to make. I will definitely make this again!

Hamburger Goulash

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2007
Very good. I did substitute peas for green beans because my family is not fond of the beans, but it still turned out wonderfully. The only thing was that I needed to add quite a bit of water continuously to make sure it didn't burn as it was simmering (I think I added about four cups overall), and I added some more salt and pepper at the table. Easy to make, my family liked it, and there were lots of leftovers for lunch! I will definitely make this again.

White Bread For The Bread Machine

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
Excellent. I wasn't sure because some of the reviews said it was too sweet, so I added an unmeasured amount of sugar, what thought looked right. Baked beautifully and tasted great! I will definitely use this again!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
Fabulous! I altered it a tiny bit, adding more chicken broth, but it turned out wonderful. Very tasty and very filling. My family's requested to have it again soon! In future though, I will add either noodles or rice to give it a little more substance, and a little less spice, as my youngest said it was too hot, but other than that is was perfect!

Amish Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
Mine didn't turn out so nice. The taste was fine, but try as I did I couldn't turn off my bread machine to get it to start over. I'm sure it would be a very good bread if I had a better machine.

Easy French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
I did not care for this recipe. I've made this twice with the exact same results: it ends up caked in cinnamon, soggy on the inside.

Mom's Baking Powder Biscuits

I didn't dip them in melted butter or whatever, like I should have, but they were fabulous! I made them for Easter in the shape of bunnies, and there were none left the next day!

Cinnamon Bread II

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
This was my first attempt at breadmaking, and it turned out great! We don't have a sweet setting, so I used rapid, and it turned out fine. I did double the cinnamon and add more sugar, as suggested. It's particularly good toasted with butter. In future though I would leave out the raisins, as I'm just not a big fan of raisins, and my son just picked them out anyway. I think the cinnamon could stand on its own.

Emily's Excellent Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
I made this for lunch one day because I didn't know if it would be good or not. It seriously took about three minutes to throw together, and about twenty to bake, and I was done. No muss, no fuss. Very easy. The taste? Well, it obviously depends on the quality chili you use. We just used some generic stuff, but some higher quality would have made it even that much better. And if you are cooking for a picky person that won't eat anything except just the chili and cheese, it does just taste like chili and cheese on chips, but if you add everything like lettuce, sour cream, salsa, etc., it does make a VERY excellent taco salad taste. I would definitely make it again. It was very good. It might even be good to substitute some actual tortillas on the bottom instead of chips so it's mildly more healthy and even easier to serve.

Evelyn's Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
The cookie itself was... okay. I've definately had better. The flour method was horrible though, and I ended up adding 1 cup more flour per batch to the bowl, just so it didn't stick to everything! When it was finally ready, it was VERY easy to roll out, and had a lovely texture, but it wasn't as sweet as I would have liked. I did also add almond or else it would have just been flavorless. I would either use a lot of sprinkles in future, or frosting would be even better. Oh, and it does make more cookies than listed, too. I make a quadruple batch for holiday cookies, and it ended up making 17 dozen, rather than 12. I had to give them away to everyone!
