About this Cook
Mom of 2 girls and 2 boys. Wife to a "meat and potatoes" type of guy. I work part-time. I am always looking for healthy meal ideas that my young children will enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
I am pretty traditional in what I like to make. I enjoy incorporating fresh fruits into my dishes. I really like to bake and decorate my kids birthday cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Over the years, our holiday meals have become a little pot-luck. Everyone brings a "signature" dish and may bring a "newbie" dish too. You can count on your favorites but also get to look for a new fav too.
My cooking triumphs
Beef Tenderloin - too expensive to mess up, so I was a little nervous on my first attempt. But, it turned out great.
My cooking tragedies
A beautiful salad out of the pages of Southern Living- very heavy in the cilantro. Yuck- this was a day that will live in infamy with my hubbie. Let's just say, cilantro is not welcome in my kitchen again.

Bunko Punch
Served at Bunko and was a hit! This punch is not overly sweet. Had to buy a 12 pack of Fresca, because I couldn't find the two liter.

Easy Ham and Cheese Appetizer Sandwiches
Really good. I used the sweet hawaiian rolls and Boar's Head sliced ham and slices of swiss cheese. I set up an assembly line prep after cutting my ham and cheese into roll size squares. Didn't need one whole onion. I used less than half and there was plenty of onion flavor. Really good party food that is a little more substantial.

Beer Pancakes
These pancakes had a very thick texture. They had a distinctive beer smell, but the flavor was sweet. Mine may have been thinner if I had sifted the flour. I would never make them again. I tried this recipe b/c I didn't have any buttermilk and it seems as every other pancake recipe calls for buttermilk.
