Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
I've had my bread machine for over a year, using only the recipes that came with the machine. Decided to give this one a try. ABSOLUTELY the BEST loaves out of my bread machine. I have made numerous times..using a couple alterations after reading other reviews.....more sugar 3 T (have also used honey) and a bit more salt (1 1/2 t) and I use 2 C bread flour, 1 C whole wheat. I use the basic setting on the bread machine, light crust setting This is my Go To recipe for every day bread...I make one or two loaves a week for my hubby & I. You won't be disappointed.

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2013
This recipe is outstanding! Reading other reviews I did reduce the wine by half & replaced the half with beef stock. The gravy was PERFECT. I didn't have burgundy on hand, so just used a cab. Added mushrooms and served with mashed potatoes...OMG, hubby said this is a keeper!

Sachertorte

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
I'll have to confess that with this cake I start with a dark chocolate cake mix made in 2 round cake pans. I follow the chocolate icing and filling mix to the tee. After taking the cake out of the 2 round cake pans I slice off the top to even it out. Fill and make the frosting to pour over it. I've done it this way for years - ALL who eat this RAVE about it. It's the filling and the frosting that "make" this cake. It's to die for. My family calls it "THE" cake and make requests for it. I've made it for many a family and social gathering...it's always a hit. Sorry I cheat, but time is short and this tastes like or better than a completey homemade cake...much easier and it NEVER fails! Very moist and absolutely to die for!! Chocolate lovers you won't be disappointed!!

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
I follow the premise of this recipe, but adjust the seasoning mixture to my taste (i.e. smoked paprika, garlic salt, chili powder etc. I have my own seasoning mix I make that I use in my cooking) - make no mistake about it - cooking a chicken with this method produces and incredibly juicy, flavorful bird. (don't be stingy with the seasining mixture) Don't forget to season the INSIDE of the bird. I don't go to the trouble of loosening the skin to season between - I just season the inside and outside of the chicken and it's absolutely fantastic! I periodically baste the chicken with the drippings and seasoned butter. Folks...this melts in your mouth!! Be sure not to under-cook...if you get impatient, you might end up with a chicken that isn't as tender. I cook mine for at least 3 hours on indirect heat. YUMMO!!

Grilled Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
I've cooked MANY a pork tenderloin as it's one of my hubby's favorites. I had never used an indirect method of grilling. I am now a convert! It was the best, juciest method of grilling for this type of meat. I'm not sure the combination of seasonings makes as much of a difference as the method, as I added my own personal preferences with seasonings. I did brush with BBQ sauce of choice during the later part of the cooking. WOW is all I can say. I also added soaked wood chips on the side (in foil with holes pierced to release the smoke) I can't wait to experiment with more cuts of meat!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I was so excited to try this after all the great reviews. It was definitely tender, but the flavor was very bland. I even added some pork bbq spice. If I decide to make it again, I will need to step up the flavor profile 10 fold. If you are a big bbq fan - you will probably be disappointed.

Day-After-Thanksgiving Turkey Carcass Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Was searching for ways to use up the Thanksgiving leftovers and ran across this. It sounded interesting and would use up more than just the leftover turkey. My hubby is not a huge soup fan but he absolutely loved it! I agree with others that there was too much rice for my taste. Not very "soupy" - more like a rice dish. Would only use about 3/4 C next time. Flavors were wonderful I didn't add as much as called for as my dressing and leftover turkey were already very flavorful. Don't be afraid of the odd addition of the dressing - give it a try! Can't wait to have it for lunch today.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I read multiple reviews but none saying they used cornbread vs. bread. I prefer cornbread, so decided to go ahead and make my own cornbread like I usually do and then go with the remainng ingredients because I thought the spices and other ingredients sounded like a great combination. I was not disappointed - the flavor combo was awesome. My hubby doesn't "like" mushrooms, so I chopped them up small and he never even knew they were in there, but they added wonderful flavor. Also, I opted to cook in the oven as an alternative. Definitely a keeper recipe. I will make it again.

Balsamic Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
I thought this recipe was definitely a keeper! I followed the recipe almost to the letter, only adding about 1 t of garlic powder. Did not taste at all "vinegary". I grilled on med heat for about 25 mins, let it rest for another 5 and it was cooked perfectly. Moist, tender, flavorful.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
This was a great comfort food recipe. I think I cooked it longer than the recipe called for by accident....it was fork tender but falling apart. Yummy taste especially with mashed potatoes and thickening the leftover juice w/cornstarch to make a gravy. Hubby loved it and will make again...although not what I would call outstanding, it was easy and delish.

Adding my top rating to the thousands of others! Made this last nite and it was awesome, I followed the recipe exacty except for one thing and that was sprinkling about a T of plain breadcrumbs to last step of the broiling process. My hubby absolutely loved it and asked me to please add this one to our dinner favorites!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Absolutely the best Key Lime pie recipe I've ever tried. Easy, simple and delish! I did use regular Mexican limes though and I had to bake mine about 15 mins before the bubbles formed. It was perfect though - great consistency! You can't go wrong with this one!!
