Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I made this for our annual Beer Brats and 'Shoes party. Excellent! I took the suggestion of another reviewer and used 1/3 cup of applesauce instead of the apples. Also used 5 whole cloves. Worked just fine. This is a keeper!

Homemade Horseradish

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
Excellent!! I had to chop my horseradish in 1/2 inch cubes to get the processor going with it. Hot and pungent. Very nice and easy!

Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
Very good. I wish I had marinated the beans overnight. Very good. I microwaved the bacon separately and then the beans and then roasted. Thanks for the recipe!

Excellent! Roll out thin - the thinner the better. I used half the amount of sugar as suggested. Excellent!

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
Wow. Excellent! I halved the recipe based on how much broth I made. I did not add the broth. This is a definite keeper! Yummy creamy turkey rice soup!

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
This was good but it needed as others suggested garlic or green onions. I did add some chipotle salsa to it so it wasn't so white. Otherwise, a good solid recipe that guests enjoyed.

Sassy Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
Mine came out looking a little like tuna salad so it sat for a bit but once everyone caught on that it was chicken, they loved it!

This was my first time preparing a rack of lamb. It turned out beautifully. Definitely use a thermometer. Thank you Jennine!

Best Buckwheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2005
These were very good - a bit of a thin batter for me so I added 1 tbl each of white flour and the buckwheat flour. Turned out perfect after additions.

Maple Salmon

This was excellent. I marinated for 30 minutes but would probably marinade longer next time. Baked in a glass dish as recommended. Thanks for a keeper!

Brown Sugar Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
I was disappointed considering the rave reviews. Mine came out just like biscuit texture in cinnamon roll form. Very disappointing.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2004
Excellent. I followed the recipe except I roasted in my convection oven for 30 at 450 degrees and 1 hour at 400. Delicious. Made only half the basting marinade and it was sufficient for one chicken. Will definitely make again.

Spectacular Marsala Glazed Carrots with Hazelnuts

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2004
This is an excellent, easy recipe. In halving the recipe for two, one shallot was a bit much. I might even reduce to 1/2 a shallot when splitting the recipe. Overall though, just yummy. Might even be good with fresh, frenched green beans - not overly cooked.

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2004
Excellent and easy. I followed other advice and used 1/2 the required cream cheese and sprinkled with powdered sugar rather than use the icing. Used lowfat cream cheese and sour cream and buttery flake crescent rolls. Great reviews from the board retreat members. Is definitely a keeper!

Thai Style Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2004
Good recipe but to make it five stars, add chopped basil and mint right before servine. I needed mored than one dried chili. Needed a bit more sauce so I added a cornstarch/water/soy sauce mixture to better coat the pasta. Excellent and would be good for a casual dinner party. Thanks for sharing!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2003
Nothing special other than it is easy. It's OK for generic comfort food but didn't knock my socks off. Probably would not make again unless added additional ingredients. Try Beef Stroganoff III under Beef Recipes. Excellent.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Easy to prepare. I used fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and yogurt. Turned out creamy, smooth and yummy. I didn't have ginger garlic paste so subbed fresh garlic and ginger juice. Excellent. Would make again!

Cake Mix Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
If I had not made them, I would not have believed how good this were and I believe in making breads from scratch! Sweet but not too sweet for dinner. Don't let the dough get too stiff - keep it slightly sticky. I just made regular rolls - no rolling into crescents. Did great!!
