Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Love it! I like to add a clove or two of garlic with the shallots, and sometimes I substitute the last cup of chicken stock with heavy cream or half and half, when I have it on hand. It makes it even richer and creamier.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Like most things on this site, I find this recipe to be the perfect jumping off point for me. I make adjustments as I go, leave things out, put things out. It's a great starter recipe.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

As someone who doesn't enjoy cake very much, I'm really impressed by this recipe! I do substitute the sour cream with vanilla Greek yogurt. Same effect, and it adds a little something extra, I think. I really like that it's a dense, heavy cake. Everyone loves this recipe; it's my total go-to. I tend to make things from scratch, but this is the best I've ever made. Winner.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

These are a HIT everywhere I take them. And since I entertain with them, I like to use a pizza cutter and just cut them up into bite-sized squares. They're easier to eat, and everyone gets to have at least one! I use spicy brown mustard and then whip up a cream cheese/cinnamon dip, and they're always gone within minutes!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

I followed other users' advice on doubling the glaze and marinating the chops overnight in apple juice & soy sauce. Served with some plain mashed potatoes, this was the perfect fall meal!

Homesteader Cornbread

I've never been a huge cornbread fan, but I cannot get enough of this stuff! I made it with chili for a group of about eight college students, and it was completely devoured. I've shared it with everyone I know, and it's been very popular! I followed the recipe to a T, including the recipe writer's suggestion to beat for five minutes, and I couldn't be happier. Great results!
