About this Cook
I am a married mother of 2 who was thrust into the role of cook when I discovered my husband could not 'cook' anything but nachos. I come from a mostly vegetarian family (yes, that is actually possible) and have way too much trouble cooking meat. I can't pick out a cut of beef without a butcher beside me and prefer vegetarian meals, much to my meat eating husband's dismay. I am very picky about what I feed my kids and make 90% of what we eat from scratch. I work full time and prep a lot at night.
My favorite things to cook
I have 2 vices... desserts with fresh apples and pizza and I am always looking for new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up with a huge extended family, we would always gather at grandma's for Easter and Christmas dinner. After dessert, usually apple pie, all the ladies would retire to the living room while the men cleaned up!
My cooking triumphs
Every day my picky 3 year old eats is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
My mother asked me to bake a spice cake for her tea party when I was 15. I did, but I dyed the batter bright green and iced it with 'robin egg blue' icing. When I presented it to her she cried and asked me what the hell was wrong with me. I have sinced learned that presentation is very important.

Coconut Horchata
What a pain the butt to make! But well worth it, I will make this again and again.

Japanese Beef Rolls
I'd give this 4 stars due to the ease of making it. Next time I would definetly marinate the meat in soysauce, a bit of ginger and maybe a drop of sesame oil for more flavourful meat. The filling was excellent but as I said the meat needed more flavour. We served it with a dipping sauce which was mayonaise mixed with a bit of soysauce. The dip really brought out the flavours and made this dish awesome. I highly recommend including the dip.
