Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
This bread is heaven sent. I followed the recipe exactly and it was so good! (I'm not the world's best bread maker either.) I think I'm going to make this every week and play with it. Thanks so much!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
This is a great base recipe. I added a can of refried beans to thicken the recipe, less water, another can of tomatoes, and some more spices. Made with my usual Homesteader Cornbread from this site. Tastes great. So excited to eat tonight. Perfect rainy day food.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
These are good. I am giving them a 5 because of their nutrition in comparison to taste. They taste sort of nutty because of the oats. I usually feel that when you supplement ingredients for healthier ones, the taste suffers. I supplemented applesauce for the oil and used part wheat flour instead of regular. I don't know how these would have tasted but they still tasted good...(but obviously healthier.) I added cinnamon and nutmeg and made these into mini muffins and they were great. Thanks for the recipe!

We make a lot of shakes and smoothies in our house. This was a great alternative to fruit shakes...Sometime different. Thanks for the recipe! Even my picky husband liked it.

Sweet Cottage Cheese and Bananas

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
This is a fulfilling snack. I did a few sessions with a trainer at the gym and she said that cottage cheese was high on her list of good foods to eat. The honey and bananas made this delish. I'm gonna make it again for lunch tomorrow. Thanks!

Buttermilk Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
I didn't use a bread mixer for this. I wanted a wheat bread recipe with buttermilk and this was great. Thanks!

Sparkling Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
I'm giving this a 5 because it tasted really fresh and all the fruit in the recipe doesn't turn brown which allows you to make this a few hours in advance. I also used canned pineapple chunks because it was a lot cheaper than buying a pineapple. Unlike other reviewers, I thought the club soda/grape juice combo added to the recipe and I could taste it on the fruit. I served this with some chicken garlic pizza and it was perfect. Thanks!

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
This crust is awesome. I didn't bother kneading it by hand, just in my KitchenAid. Made 2 crusts. Thanks a million! I'll use this often.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Although a lot of people's alterations to this recipe sounded dreamy, I decided to go ahead and make it as written. I only had a 9 by 5 bread pan so I baked the bread about 15-20 minutes longer. This is really moist and wonderful bread though. Thanks for a great fall recipe!

Apricot Chicken

This is an excellent recipe. I didn't have cashews or the green pepper but I added a can of apricots, brown sugar to taste, and some pepper. My husband really liked this. Thanks for the idea!

This salad dressing was delicious. I added a teaspoon of sugar and garlic powder and thought the added sweetness tasted great with the balsamic vinegar.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This recipe is delicious. I sauteed the onions and shredded the chicken and then added the rest of the ingredients. I also added 3 cans of chicken broth instead of two and a half a can of black beans. Will add to my rotation. Thanks for a great recipe! My husband loved it!

Light Oat Bread

I am eating this bread right now and I LOVE it! I used butter instead of margarine, supplemented 1/2 cup wheat flour for 1/2 cup of the white, and added 2 tablespoons of flax meal. I also used my kitchen aid to make this. Awesome! Thanks!

Spicy Honey Mustard Pork Roast

Everyone liked this. I put water in the bottom of the dish and made an interesting, sweet gravy with that. I roasted this for about a half hour longer. Succulent.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This garlic chicken was awesome. I LOVE that it was breaded but didn't call for flour or eggs. I added 7 cloves of garlic plus garlic powder, some kosher salt, and pepper. I will be keeping this recipe in my rotation. Wonderful! Thank you!
