Dee's Roast Pork for Tacos

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
I would have given this a 2 but my husband liked it so I'll compromise and give it a 3. It tasted good when I covered it up with other things so I couldn't taste it. Sorry, but I'm not going to save this in my recipe box.

Brazilian Lemonade

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
YUM! This drink is so good. I made a different limeade yesterday and this put that to shame. I think I could drink this by the gallon. The tart and sweet combination was fabuloso. Thank you! Note: I've made this 4 or 5 times now. I don't see how anyone would have trouble straining this if you use a small strainer. I also add the ice after I strain it because I prefer the drink with small ice bits and I don't want that to get caught in the strainer.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
I made muffins with this bread instead of loaves. The recipe was very moist and my husband loved it. The sour cream definitely adds a creamier consistency. I generally think fat free sour cream tastes gross but I couldn't taste the difference when adding it to this recipe. My usual banana bread turns out more golden so I broiled the tops of the muffins for 2-3 minutes. Yum!

Honey Limeade

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I liked this drink. I think next time I will make it without the honey flavor. It's good, but different. The sugar sweetens the drink enough. 10 medium limes equaled about a cup of lime juice for me. P.S.- To anyone who thinks they are making this drink more "healthy" by using artificial sweeteners instead of sugar, artificial sweeteners are anything BUT healthy. Add the sugar and bask in your vitamin C allotment.

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
If I could give this recipe more than 5 stars I absolutely would. This salad is awesome! I made it exactly as directed but just used romaine lettuce and added 1/3 cup barbecue sauce and and 2/3 cup ranch. I used the french onions and liked them, but I'll probably experiment with red onions and other things instead. I liked that extra crunch but want to keep the salad on the healthy side. I used Fat Free Ranch which I don't usually like, but it still tasted great in the recipe. I am picky about recipes that I decide to make again and this is totally going into the rotation. Thanks so much for such a great salad recipe!

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
This chicken was okay but I was a little disappointed. I really thought it would be more flavorful and I used all the ingredients indicated. Doctored, I would give this a better rating, but for the amount of ingredients I put into this, I was expecting something else. I don't think I'll make this again.

Cantaloupe Frenzy

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Cantaloupe as a drink just tastes weird to me. I'm tempted to give it a 4 because of health benefits, but I just can't bring myself to do that. I'll stick to berries and bananas in my smoothies. If I try cantaloupe again in a drink, it definitely won't be by itself.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
I made these in my kitchen aid mixer. Everything went well until I tried to roll them out into 8 balls. They rose a ton before and I thought they were going to turn out perfectly. I couldn't get 8 6-7 inch circles first of all. I made 7 imperfect circles and then waited for them to rise again. They rose a little bit, but didn't puff up as much as I would have liked them too. I guess I am going to have to play with this recipe to make it perfect. They tasted great with honey drizzled on them.

Banana Berry Smoothie II

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
This is a good smoothie but needs some alterations. I think all good smoothies require some ice in them if you really want a smoothie consistency. I stock up on bananas and then freeze them because I find that frozen bananas help the consistency of smoothies as well. (TIP: the longer your bananas brown the sweeter they will be so wait until they start spotting a bit before you use them.) I find that honey and sugar are optional in these sort of smoothie recipes, (personal taste,) but I can never go without some real vanilla! Great recipe though.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
This tastes really good. I agree that it isn't really a pie. Well it's like custard/pie/cheesecake. When I cut it it was hard to keep it together. The ingredients sort of slithered off of the crust. Maybe I need to let it set longer though. I also baked the crust for 10 minutes before I added the ingredients. The recipe calls for too much of the cinnamon/sugar mixture. I didn't put it all on. I'm gonna experiment with this because despite the problems I had with it, it tasted so dang good!

Onion Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
My mom always made rice pilaf with vermicelli browned in it first. Maybe the definition of pilaf is looser than I imagined because I don't quite understand why this is considered pilaf. Because you brown the onions first? At any rate, this is a nice standard recipe for rice and a nice side dish. It tasted good and I'll probably make it again.

Souvlaki

Reviewed: May 31, 2008
I think this is what food in Heaven tastes like. I loved the mix of flavors in this recipe. I marinated it for about 3 hours but I also doubled the sauce and had less meat then the recipe called for. The only other change I made was that I added Kosher salt to the recipe. I am addicted to Allrecipes and I think this is one of the better recipes I've found on this site. Will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Orange Glorious I

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I am a frothy beverage critic because I make smoothies every morning. I enjoyed this recipe. I would make it with less ice water and more ice next time though. I prefer more of a smoothie consistency. Will use again. Thanks!

Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I am giving this a 4 because it is a great base recipe but I wouldn't want to make it as written otherwise. I sauteed mushrooms and 1 onion in olive oil. I set this mixture aside and then browned meat in same pan. I added Italian seasonings, garlic powder, and kosher salt to meat. After meat was browned I put the mushroom/onion mixture back in and then covered it with spaghetti sauce. I only had egg noodles on hand and so I used those. Followed the recipe besides these alterations and broiled the cheese and the end to brown it a bit. If there are only a few of you in your household I would recommend cutting this recipe in half. I was counting on leftovers but I made WAY too much for the two of us. We are going to be eating this for a week! FYI: I served this with the "Cheesy Garlic Bread" from this site submitted by Gina. Fantasitc!

Cheesy Garlic Bread

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I loved this garlic bread and I wouldn't change a thing. Fresh garlic and dried oregano are the perfect mix. I love fresh garlic so much I am beginning to think it should be it's own food group. Garlic powder just doesn't compare to the fresh stuff. Watch broiling carefully. I broiled it for 3 minutes and the edges turned black. I made this again and broiled for exactly 2 minutes and the bread was perfectly browned. This is my new garlic bread recipe. Thank you!

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
I LOVED THESE COOKIES. They taste great without any alterations but I've read so many reviews about altering them with white chocolate and stuff, I can't wait to play with this recipe. I handed one to my husband after they cooled off a bit, and Mr. Picky loved them too. Thanks so much! Will save this recipe for sure!

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
I really liked these Cheesecake brownies. I've never liked things ultra sweet, and thus, the cheesecake flavor was a great addition to the brownie mix. I added a tablespoon of flour, two tablespoons of butter, and vanilla, to the cheesecake mixture before swirling it into the brownie mix. I also cooked these for about 40 minutes. They would be awesome with some Vanilla Bean or Cheesecake Frozen Yogurt or something. Update: Like others said, they are twice as good the day after and refrigerated.

Honey-Dijon Chicken

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
This wasn't bad. I didn't do exact measurements and I poured extra sauce on rice and vegetables. It had a nice flavor I guess but it wasn't that amazing.

Crispy Potato Wedges

I am a huge french fry fan and I loved this recipe. I followed other reviewers advice and added seasoned salt. I cut my strips so they resembled french fries and adjusted the heat accordingly.

Golden Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
I loved this recipe. I made it exactly as written minus the nuts. They were crispy and soft in all the right places. I also love that there weren't tons left over. If there are only a few people in your household, who needs a bunch of left over cookies that you feel obligated to eat? It's just nice to get a little taste of heaven once and a while. Thanks for a great recipe. I think I will continue to use this one.
