Easy Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2014
Very easy and really good! Baking is not my strongest point, but these muffins came out really good. I didn't have baking powder, so I used some vinegar with baking soda, and it worked just fine. I also added less sugar than the recipe calls for, and it turned out great, more banana flavor. The only thing is that they tend to dry quickly, so eat them while they are fresh!

Onion-Crusted Meat Loaf with Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
Boy, it was bland! I followed the recipe exactly and even added some chili powder and some cumin, but it was so bland! Will not make it again.

Spiced Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
Oh, this was soooooo good! Curried roast beef - yummm. Next time I will double the sauce because the roast dried a little by the end. This recipe is definitely a keeper - THANKS!

Pasta Melanzana

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
This was OK. It wasn't bad, but pretty bland despite garlic, cheese and lemon juice. I give it 3 stars because I had expected more, as the ingredients were so wonderful and the recipe sounded so great... If you make pasta often, this is a good way to introduce some variety. I used mafalda instead of farfalle (it's similar, and I don't think it matters much anyway). I may make it again, but not any time soon.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Excellent! Tasty, hearty, sticks to the ribs. I used only 1 teaspoon of dill, and thought it was quite enough (I think 2 would have been too strong), but the soup was a great success! Will definitely make it again. Thanks!

Grilled Eggplant, Tomato and Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Not just a delicious but also a very good looking dish! Can be served on any occasion and won't be a disappointment. I also tried baking it as well, but I think the grilled version came out a little better (as with everything grilled). I packed leftovers for my husband's lunch, and everyone around him was asking for the recipe!

Quick Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
I found the dish to be a little soggy... But this recipe is a keeper with a couple of modifications. I took other reviewers' advice and added half a teaspoon curry powder, which, I thought, gave it a great flavor. I also used half the amount of broccoli and added half a cup of cauliflower, and we actually liked cauliflower better in this dish. So, next time I'll use only cauliflower with no broccoli, and definitely will not forget curry powder. Other than that, I'll keep it in the recipe box! Thanks for the idea!

Braised Venison with Rosemary and Shiitake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I made it with beef steak instead of venison, and used Merlot for wine, but all the same, it turned out soooo good! Excellent dish, nice sophisticated flavor, great for a romantic dinner!

Ranch Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2007
I usually use flavored cream cheese, but this time I had plain, and was looking for something to add flavor to my mashed potatoes. Found this recipe - pretty good for a change! Very easy, too. Thanks for sharing!

Shrimp and Mushroom Linguini with Creamy Cheese Herb Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
I think the list of ingredients should have included salt and pepper. I cut on butter, added more garlic, lots of Parmesan and black pepper, and a little salt, and it turned out pretty good. A very good dish for a change!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
It smelled really strong and "garlic"y when cooked but tasted really mild, very mild actually. Not a bad flavor, but doesn't leave you craving for more.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
I used chicken thighs I had at hand. Boy, was it good! A little too much butter, but it's a matter of taste and can easily be remedied next time. Definitely going on our favorite recipes list!!!

Parmesan Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2007
It was OK. I ended up adding some rosemary and thyme, and I think it added a lot to the dish. Next time I will try adding more pepper or just a tiny pinch of cayenne, as, in my opinion, the dish was amazingly bland for so much parmesan. However, my husband liked it, and even my picky kids ate some. Definitely not a 5 star dish, but it was pretty good for a change!

Normal Chicken

Nothing special. Would have been the same with salt and pepper. I gave it 3 stars only because it was really easy, otherwise it's absolutely nothing special.

Home-Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
Ok, I have to say, I deviated from the recipe in the sense that I roasted all ingredients together at the same time instead of cooking them separately, then mixing together. But it was pretty good, sort of like a soup without the liquid. Next time I will also add garlic, I think it will give the dish more flavor.

Brown Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
I definitely would NOT put a whole tablespoon of basil. I used one teaspoon, and it was quite enough to taste it, and more than enough to give lots of flavor to the dish. Otherwise, it was pretty good, and I will be making this again!

Holuski

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
Good basic recipe. Easy to make, too. A little bland (although I did saute onions and cabagge together), but that comes with the cuisine. Overall, it's a good dish for those who don't like a lot of herbs/spices. I added tomatoes and bay leaf and let everything cook together, and, in my opinion, it was much better. But then, again, I'm not Czech! :)

Great party dish! Easy to prepare and makes A LOT! I added pepperoni just because we all are big meat eaters. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Simple Peanut Squash

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
The dish was simple, quick to prepare and delicious (to those who complained that squash was too hard to cut I'd recommend investing in a good knife - makes life a lot easier)! I added a little cinnamon to it, and it was great. The only thing: there was way too much butter in the recipe! I'll add half of the recommended amount next time. But it's just my personal taste.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
I followed the recipe down to a T, and all it is just basically cheese omelet on top on sausage on top of hash browns, only it was a lot messier to make! Anything that has that amount of cheese would be just as good. You could exclude all other ingredients, and it would still taste almost the same. I doubt I would make it again. It was an OK dish for breakfast, but not so good for dinner.
