Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
I really like this recipe because there is no ketchup in it. To me, ketchup is a bit trashy to have in recipe unless it's in a dip or a spread. I've made used this recipe many times and the only thing I could suggest is to maybe only use 1 Tbp. of sugar. But if you like it the traditional sweet taste stick to the recipe.

Korean BBQ Short Ribs (Gal-Bi)

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
I LOVE this recipe. It tastes just like the Galbi you have in the Korean restaurants in Koreatown here in LA. I can't always get short ribs with the bone in so the boneless large pack at Costco works just fine. I add a bit of crushed pineapple or minced Kiwi to the marinade to tenderize the meat. My Korean gf gave me that suggestion and it works wonders.

Magic Cookie Bars II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
Wow, these bars are super duper sweet but oh so good. I would cut them into smaller squares to serve because they are a bit rich unless you have a nice tall glass of milk to go with them...

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
This recipe is perfect as it is. I only used 2 C of sugar because I try to be somewhat responsible when baking for my family however I followed all the other ingredients to a tee. I added the crumble as all the others did and will definitely be keeping this in rotation. Thank you so much, LAUJRA!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies III

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
My husband was begging me to make these cookies for him and although I have the Mrs. Field's cookie book I decided to try my trusty Allrecipes instead. There were 2 recipes that scored high in the reviews. This one and the IV version. I chose this one however, I wish I tried the other one first. All the reviewers here mentioned the cookie being cakey. They weren't joking. I followed this recipe exactly as shown and was not very happy with the results. The cookie really lacked flavor and was extremely cakey and mealy. Almost like there was too much flour in it? This recipe did score high though so this must be a common type of cookie elsewhere but I've never had anything like this on the West Coast. I say, try it for yourself. You may like it a lot more than my family did. (Sorry Mary)

Oven Fried Chicken III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
This recipe is the best for oven baked chicken out there. At least from what I've tried. Although the mayo part of the recipe may seem a little weird, you can't really taste it at all when everything has been baked through. I do halve the mayo and add milk or buttermilk in it's place to make the chicken easier to coat. Also, I suggest making double the crumb mix as I always seem to run out of it at the end. Maybe the chicken pieces I use are giant? I too, have had problems with soggy bottoms of chicken even while cooking them on cookie cooling racks however I figured out that cooking them in convection mode in the oven over a cookie rack crisps them up really nicely. Just cut the time down a little and watch them carefully. Also, it's fun to play with the herbs and spices with this recipes ie. adding parmesan or oregano, old bay, basil, etc.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Great recipe but a tad bit sweet so all you need to do is cut down the sugar a bit in both the topping and the apple mixture. The topping is fantastic so it's best to make double the amount so you don't have to be chintzy with is. Also, be sure to remember to cook the syrup first. It makes a huge difference vs. forgetting to cook it like I have done a few times. I also added a bit a cinnamon to the apple mixture because it just taste better. Highly recommend this one.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
I had been using the Old Fashioned Pancake recipes on Allrecipes for the past few years until today. Now I've found my ultimate pancake recipe. Great cakey texture, not to heavy and quite flavorful. I thought the vinegar would add a bad taste to the batter but I didn't detect it at all. Perfect!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2010
It was the highest rated recipe so I decided to try it. The risotto turned out excellent. If you use chicken stock that is already salted you definitely will not need to add more as it calls for. The parmesan at the end adds much flavor too. Easy and quite enjoyable. Will definitely keep this one.

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Good recipe. Yes, the frosting is sweet but what frosting isn't? I added a teaspoon more fresh lemon juice since I like my frosting a little more tart. I also highly recommend adding at least 2 extra tsp of whipping cream because this frosting is super dense and unspreadable. It turned out perfect for my lemon cupcakes w/those tweaks. Enjoy!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Super moist. Super chocolaty. Super yummy. Super WOW! I made these as cupcakes for my son's birthday and they were a hit. I cut the time in half at 17 minutes. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I filled them w/bavarian cream and topped them off with buttercream frosting. A must keep recipe.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Best artichoke dip recipe I've tried on this site. My friend is allergic to basil so I replaced it w/oregano and it worked just fine. And instead of the romano cheese, I added more parmesan. Turning the broiler on for a couple of minutes after the cooking time browns the top very nicely. Enjoy!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
I made this for my mommy buddy for a playgroup and she loved it. I mixed the apples with the sugar/flour/water/cinnamon as it seemed the right thing to do and turned out great. I used golden delicious apples but I'll probably use granny smiths next time since the goldens seemed a bit bland. Also, I'd reduce the water to a 1/3 cup as the apples are swimming in liquid w/this recipe. I like sauce a little thicker. Definitely a keeper though.
