Zesty Southern Pasta and Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
This didn't work for me. Something about the combintation of italian dressing and mexican seasoning just didn't go well together.

Tangy Mango Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I ommitted the onion and walnuts and used celery instead. Also, I used real sugar instead of Splenda. This has a very pungent flavor and there is plenty of dressing, so I think I would cut back next time. Overall, this is unique and very healthy....would make again.

Savory Herb Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
I used chicken broth instead of water and ommitted the soy sauce. Also, I used brown rice instead of white. It came out great, just slightly undercooked. I think next time I will either add more liquid or cook a bit longer at a lower temperature. The water seemed to cook off before the rice was fully cooked. Seasoning was perfect.

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I used a can of chicken broth, water in place of the beef broth, olive oil in place of butter, garlic powder, and ommitted the salt. It came out great however the cooking time was 1.5 hours.

Island Kielbasa in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
As other reviewers recommended I used half the amount of sugar (1 cup). Also, I used a 20oz can of pineapple, which is a little more than the recipe calls for. This definitely makes a lot of sauce. Cooked for 6 hours on low and the kielbasa was very tender.

Healthy Turkey Loaf

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I was a bit skeptical about this, but it came out really good. As suggested I doubled all of the ingredients except for the egg and baked it for 60 minutes at 350. Also, I mixed a little bit of ketchup and worcestershire sauce and brushed it on the top before cooking, which made a nice glaze. Would definitely make this again.

Baked Haddock

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly as written and it came out great. The breading on the bottom of the fish did stick a little bit to the baking dish, so next time I might take the suggestion of cooking on a rack. All in all it came out nice and crispy and I would definitely make it again.

No Time to Cook Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
This came out great. I followed the recipe exactly except for sprinkling the chicken breasts with black pepper and garlic powder before adding them to the crock pot.

Baked Ziti

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
I made this recipe twice, once using ground beef, and once using ground turkey; and both were great. In both cases I halved the amount of meat and there was just the right amount. I also added about 50% more sauce. Great left-over as well.

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
Very good and very easy. As other reviewers suggested, I added corn and a squeeze of lime juice. I also used low sodium chicken broth instead of vegetable broth. Will definitely make this again!

Quick Brownbag Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
These came out great. I like the idea of making a batch and freezing the left-overs to grab for lunches throughout the week. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookies Lite

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
These are a great alternative to chocolate chip cookies. Don't make the mistake I did and put wax paper on the cookie sheet. The paper stuck and it took me forever to pick it off the cookies. Otherwise these taste great. I used milk and white chocolate chip swirls.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Pork Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
This is one of the best things that has ever come out of my crockpot! I used a pork tenderloin that already comes marinated in teriyaki sauce. I cut up a sweet onion for the bottom of the pot, and then poured in the can of pineapple chunks and a can of whole cranberry sauce. This cooked on low for about 10 hours because I was at work at all day. It was perfect...hardly any leftovers!!!

Slow-Cooked Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
This is an OK recipe. It is easy and quick to make but the consistency wasn't quite what I think of when I think of corn chowder. Just wasn't thick enough. Maybe next time I would throw in another can of creamy soup.

Baked Honey Nut Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I used boneless chicken breasts and crushed almonds for this recipe. Only took 35 minutes to cook in a 375 degree oven. I will continue to try variations on this recipe. Might be good with a dipping sauce as the coating is a bit dry.

Grandma's Raspberry Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
These came out great except I made a few changes. I added another 2 tablespoons of softened butter to the topping because it seemed dry. I substituted chopped almonds for walnuts. Also, I realized I didn't have any plain oats, so I used apple/cinnamon flavored oats instead...it turned out great! Would definitely make these again!

Easy Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
I used 2 cans cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, and an extra 1/2 cup of milk. Also, I added frozen broccoli and fresh carrot pieces. The 90 plus 15 minute cook time worked great, and it came out nice and moist. As some of other viewers suggested, I did add a pack of onion soup mix. Would definitely make this again!
