I enjoy cooking for others, but get annoyed when I have to heat up a can of soup for myself! In a perfect world, I would already have everything prepared in the fridge for my own meals for a week. But when it comes to making dinner for my husband or friends, I love every second, from the brainstorming to the prepping of ingredients to the presentation, of preparing the meal.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking...it's theraputic to me. Everything from crumbcake cupcakes to deep-dish apple pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking holiday cookies! The kitchen looks like a flour bomb exploded, but when all the ribbons are tied on the gift platters, it makes me smile!
My cooking triumphs
I have always been interested in cooking, although I had a hard time learning over the years. I realized I had become a pretty decent cook when not only did my whole meal come out looking and tasting great, but I had timed everything so that the large dinner (consisting of main dish, gravy, three side dishes, condiments, and bread) was all on the table at the same time. I couldn't believe I finally did it!
My cooking tragedies
One year, while baking my dozens of holiday cookies, I accidentally used baking soda instead of baking powder in my recipes. Unfortunately, I didn't realize the mistake until I saw the look on people's faces as they took a bite of my "infamous" treats!
