Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
I had high hopes for this recipe based on the number of reviews it had. However, a lot of people gave it more stars based on CHANGES they had made to it. The actual original recipe does not deserve 5 stars. I followed the recipe and my cookies came out flat, spread too much. Stuck to the parchment paper and had to gently peel them off after they cooled. They had great taste but you could not even hold them in your hands to eat them. They fell apart all over the place. After the 1st batch I put the dough in the refrigerator to see if that would help the spreading. Nope. Then the next batch I put in the freezer (cookie sheet and all). Didn't help. I added baking powder and a touch more flour to thicken it a bit. Didn't help. I tried all the suggestions the other reviewers had and they still spread and came out flat. Onto another recipe.

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I LOVED this pot pie b/c it does not use condensed canned soup...the flavor was wonderful! I used a whole organic chicken that I boiled off earlier in the week. I also used the chicken broth from that. I think that made the flavor so much better! I also used a crust recipe I got from Cindy Crawford when she was on Oprah several months ago...it's a super thick crust and it was so good!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
Pretty good...Aaron didn't like it as much as I did but the baby loved it! She loves beans though. I didn't add all the peppers b/c it would have been too spicy for the kids.

Sugar Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
I love salmon and I love vinegar so this recipe was perfect for my taste! I'm making it again tonight. I recommend reserving some of the marinade for drizzling on after its cooked...that way, it is not contaminated by raw meat. YUM!

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
I thought tasted very CLOSE to the restaurant's zuppa toscana. M husband LOVED it and my mom raved about it too. I will drain the grease from the bacon next time and I might add more cream. Yummy...I don't even get any left-overs! :-(

Mexican Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
My hubby liked this dish...said it reminded him of one his mom made when he was growing up. He wants to add peppers and more onions though. I had to double the corn bread b/c mine wouldn't spread out to cover the whole dish so it tasted more bready than meaty. Maybe next time I'll thin down the corn bread so it will spread better. But hubby said he liked it that way. Also, I only had 1 lb. hamburger meat. I will also put cheese IN the dish next time instead of garnish it with the cheese. It was really yummy...I will definately make it again.

Pork Chops with Sour Cream and Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
There isn't anything wrong with the recipe. I just didn't love it. I 1/2ed it b/c I only had 4 pork chops instead of 6 and there was a ton of leftover sauce I ended up throwing away. I liked the flavor of the sauce but didn't need so much. I also made some additions like I read others did...I added garlic and onions and cut up fresh mushrooms. I think it was an improvement but it needs less sour cream. I might use this recipe again with my adjustments.

Homemade Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
I made a few adjustments like the others suggested but the basic bread recipe I didn't alter. I just added seasonings to the top of it. The bread was "flufflier" than I thought it would be - in a good way! It made a great sandwich. My mom and husband loved it. Will definately use this recipe again and try different "toppings".
