Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I have not cooked this exact recipe but I can, without a doubt, say it is great. When 1st married and my husband was going to college, I used to stretch the pork chop by cutting into cubes, browning and adding mushroom soup and cooking until pork chop was done, served over mashed potatoes or noodles. This was one of our gourmet meals!

Glazed Corned Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
WOW! This was great and how anyone could give a negative review is beyond me! So simple and delicious. It did make more sauce than needed, but now I wished I had cooked six pounds, and then would have had leftovers on the corned beef and used all the sauce! I was going to add more horseradish but did not have enough, but will next time. That is the only change I would make.

Simple Guacamole

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
I want to thank the submitter, Heidi, for reminding me of this wonderful way to use avocados – which is how I use to make my avocadoes before I started “getting fancy” :). I don’t use the salsa (put it on the side for those that want it). I add a couple tablespoons of Italian dressing instead of lemon juice which adds a little flavor while helping to prevent the darkening process (don’t forget to put your seed in your salad until you are ready to serve!). I also add a little garlic powder and pepper. Simple and marvelous!

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
I did not make this recipe myself, but our daughter-in-law made them for us. They were awesome! (She truly cooked them for her in-laws! :) My husband has not stopped talking about what a great cook she is!

Barbecued Country Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
This was wonderful! For those that want spicier – just add more chili powder and/or hot sauce! For those that want a thicker sauce, just add the remaining flour mixture on top of the ribs before adding the liquid. The only things I did differently were the aforementioned, plus I used a half cup of red wine and half cup water - I often add wine as I feel it helps tenderize and adds flavor. My husband really enjoyed these ribs! I used a hot sauce called Tiger Sauce. If you never tried it, it is a nice hot sauce with just a hint of sweet, kind of unique.

Salmon Patties II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
I could not believe the reviewer who had not even tried this recipe and said it would be tasteless, and then wrote her/his own! I use a recipe with the same ingredients (but with a slight variation) and I also add onions (because we like onions!), and it is great. You get the flavor of the salmon, not a bunch of other stuff. One should not knock a recipe before trying it! If you don't think it is good just post your own!

Eggplant Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
This is about the best sandwich ever! I am making it again tonight for the 2nd time (would have made it more often except for the heat from the oven! - this is the 105+ forever summer). The only thing I did different the 1st time was I took the advice of others and peeled and sweated. I was reviewing the reviews again tonight as I don't have any fresh basil so I am going to try the suggestion of dried in the mayo. Expect it to be FANTASTIC as before - but I do think the fresh is always the best option.

White Cake Frosting I

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
This frosting was a huge hit! I substituted the shortening with 1 stick of butter and 1/4 c. butter flavored shortening (which kept it from being a pure white color). This was easy to make, easy to spread, was not overpowering in any way. It was not too sweet and it complimented the cake and did not overpower it. I frosted the Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake which made a fantastic combination.

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I cannot imagine why there were any negative reviews on this cake. It was a big hit and I got many compliments. I used the 6 oz. of Ghirardelli. Both the additional ounces and Ghiradeli were a definite plus. Be aware that when it says use a large bowl, it means a LARGE bowl! I was using a 8 c. and it was full and I had difficulty stirring in the boiling coffee (I also took this substitute suggestion). Be aware it is a lot of batter as I made a 2 layer (9") cake and 9 cupcakes. I frosted with the White Cake Frosting 1 which is fantastic - not too sweet and easy to work with.

Granny's Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2005
These are fantastic! I questioned the oven temp and time but always use the recipe exactly as written the first time. Next time I will try 300 as 250 did not cook in a hour. I read all the reviews and it is difficult to understand how these could be horrible, dry or cakey! These are, though, definitely only for those that like rich, fudgey, very chocolate brownies!
