Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2013
These were dee-licious!! Only thing I did different was use pastry dough instead of crescent rolls. The pastry dough gives these little bundles of joy a nice crunchy texture on the outside. Next time I may cut back on the sugar as others suggested as these were definitely on the sweeter side.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2010
I made this tonight and it came out very flavorful. The only thing I changed was reducing the brown sugar and rice vinegar. It really was yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I have never made orange chicken before and I'll be making it again.

World's Best Bacon Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
I have to give this 5 stars because it was a huge it. I did make a couple modifications though. I used 8oz cheddar instead of swiss. 1/2 cup mayo and 1/2 cup sour cream and 8 slices of bacon. This came out fabulous with no grease puddles like others mentioned. Fabulous...everyone at my party raved and it got gobbled up. Oh and to the post previous to mine, I love when people make little changes to recipes. Sometimes it's helpful if you don't like an ingredient and see that someone else substitutes it and it came out good. It gives you trust in trying that substitution.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This recipe was very yummy however in my opinion 2 jars of sauce was way too much. My ziti was swimming in it. I also mixed my pasta with the sour cream as others did and that worked out perfectly. I will definately make this again but with much less sauce, maybe just one jar.

Chicago-Style Pan Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Just made this last night and it was awesome!! I only put sausage on half the pizza since I do not eat sausage. This was so tasty and yummy. I will definatley make again and experiment with different toppings. I bet this would make a fabulous hawaiian style pizza with pineapples and ham. YUM!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
This dish was incredible. I gave it a 4 star only because it was bland until I tweaked it a bit. I added a package of sliced mushrooms with the chicken. I only added half the package of cream cheese (I took that advice from previous reviewers) and I added about 1/4 cup white wine. This meal smelled so yummy while cooking and it tasted just as yummy. Definately a keeper in my book!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
I gave this a 4 star only because it is so incredibly fattening. I made this one as a treat on a weekend night and yes it was yummy, but it was so heavy from all the butter that my stomach was a little upset after. I don't think I will make this again without trying to eliminate some butter. Way too fattening, but it was tasty of course!

Chicken Scarpariello

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
This was a very good dish. The only change I made was adding a splash of lemon juice and a tbls of butter to the sauce towards the end. Once you add the chicken to the sauce it thickens right up. This was so yummy and the rosemary added the perfect taste to it. Definately a keeper in my book.

Chicken and Sausage with Bowties

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
This was a very good recipe. I made a few modifications but I still gave it 5 stars because the changes were just my likings. I used garlic and cheese sausages (we don't like spicy or fennel). My method for the meat is to brown the chicken and sausage completley in the garlic & olive oil. Cooking it now this way prevents the meat from becoming overcooked during the boiling and simmering process when making the sauce. Remove the meat and set aside than go on with making the sauce in the same skillet. I used red wine and chopped about 5 roma tomatoes (I don't like canned tomatoes). and let it simmer a bit. Once the tomatoes reduced a bit, I added a little cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce along with salt, pepper and 1/2 cup light cream (I got that tip fom other reviewers). I simmered the sauce for about 20 minutes, added the meat in and simmered another 20 minutes. I than added the pasta and a lot of chopped basil (we love basil) and the dish was very very tasty. I am not sure what people are doing when they say it comes out bland. This is very flavorful! Thanks for the recipe!!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
Recipe was easy to follow - and it came out fairly good, however, it lacked any real good flavor, all you could taste was salt. I did add some red wine and that boosted the flavor a little. I will probaly try another recipe next time.

Irish Cream Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Wonderful texture for this fudge. I made it for a holiday party and it was gobbled up. The irish cream was a little strong for my liking, but other people loved it, so that is all that matters!

Scarlett's Best Ever Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
This was just okay for me. The dough was fairly easy to make, but they came out on the dry side. I think I will try again using slightly less flour. They did not really taste like the traditional sugar cookie that I am looking for.

Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Great recipe, I did follow the advice of others and used a box of chocolate jello in the mix. My cakes came out moist and held their shape nicely. The filling was anpther story - had no flavor to me, all I could taste was the shortening....so I doctored it up with an extra tsp of vanilla and a cup of confectioners sugar, whipped it up and it was perfect!! The cakes were a huge hit with everyone. I will be making again!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
OMG! I just finished making these cookies and I have to say they are awesome! If I could rate it a "10" I would!! The dough was effortless to make and they cooked perfect. They are so darn yummy. Also, a word to the wise, make sure you use a whole mint on top (not half like the recipe says)and do not move them to a cooling rack for at least 10 minutes and there will be no mess at all.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
Easy to make, but not what I was looking for. It was very very dense and it tasted kind of funny...not sure if it was too sweet, or not sweet enough. It was just weird corn bread for me. I will keep on looking for others!

These were very good. My only change next time would be less soy sauce as it was a little over-powering.
