Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
This was good; the pork chops were really tender, but the sauce was too salty. Next time, I will use reduced sodium chicken broth!

Herb Roasted Pork Loin and Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I prepared this for the first time over the weekend, using a boston butt pork roast. In addition to the potatoes, I added carrots and onions. Also, I added Tony's cajun seasoning to the spices for the rub. It was delicious! And oh, so easy!

Kyle's Favorite Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Yum! DH loved this, so did DD12. I cooked this on the stove instead of a crockpot. I substituted venison for the beef stew meat. I used a little more flour, added another cup of liquid and a beef bouillon cube and a little more wine . . . Let it simmer for two hours. Didn't need the cornstarch at the end--it was plenty thick enough.

Slow Cooker Apple-Scented Venison Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
Let me preface my comments by saying that my husband is a HUGE deer hunter and our family LOVES venison--fried, grilled, as sausage . . . you name it. I gave this recipe 2 stars because it is edible. However, that's the kindest thing I coan say about it. Despite the fact that the onion and apple and venison made a lot of juices, the meat was most definitely NOT falling of the bone tender--nor did it have any flavor, notwithstanding the fact that I used an additional apple, Cajun seasoning and balsamic vinegar.

Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2008
My family LOVES this recipe. Even my picky 13 yo enjoys it. I altered the recipe to use about 1.5 cups of 2% milk (we like a thinner sauce--stretches the leftovers, too), 3 chicken breasts, 1 tsp. of garlic powder and a few dashes of ground red pepper for a little zip. YUMMY!

Turnaround Turkey and Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
I made this for the first time just a few days after Thanksgiving when everyone in our family was getting tired of leftover turkey. We LOVED it. DH said it was a definite keeper. I just wish I'd doubled the recipe!

Cinnamon-Raisin Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2006
I tried this recipe, thinking it would be a good fit for my eldest daughter, a picky eater, who loves both buttermilk biscuits and cinnamon raisin bread. The biscuits turned out nicely and had a pretty good flavor, but all in all my family simply thought they were "all right" and would have preferred my usual biscuits. I didn't have butter flavored shortening, so I substituted 1/3 cup butter and 1/3 cup shortening. I also found I had to add a little more buttermilk than the recipe called for in order to get all the flour mixed in. I probably won't make these again--maybe I'll go with yeast roll recipe for cinnamon rolls next time.
