My favorite things to cook
I like making stuff that is easy and has a lot of flavor!! As long as I have the ingredients on hand i'm willing to try just about anything! I love making new sauces to try with pasta.. i'm a pasta fanatic!
My cooking triumphs
I was happy the first time I made a rue that turned out perfect. It's harder than it sounds. Patience is a virtue with cooking, something i'm learning more about every day. I've learned alot about patience. The alfredo sauce recipe on this site is great at testing patience!! That sauce is so worth it though!

Risotto with Truffle and Parmesan
The recipe is pretty much perfect!!! I actually forgot to put the tiny bit of milk in at the end, but it didn't matter to us. I also left out the truffle oil only because the BF doesn't like mushrooms. Other than that I followed it exactly. Here's my tips and tricks. If you have white wine in the house, i'm sure any kind would do, but if you don't, you can buy white cooking wine at the grocery store. It's usually with the vinegars and marinades. Don't boil the broth, get it hot, but don't let it boil. Do ALL your prep first and have it within reach.. You really cannot leave the stove once you start. Use a teflon pan and a wooden spoon. Nothing will stick that way, and the rice slides right off the spoon. The recipe says stir and STIR YOU WILL!!! It's pretty much be prepared for that. I used exactly 3 cans of chicken broth. Thank you so much for this recipe. My BF and I had sauted scallops and asparagus with it, and it was a special anniversary meal and we had a lot of fun making it together. :)

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms
Reading the reviews, I actually feel kinda bad for the submitter cuz all the reviews start "great recipe after i basically changed every ingredient in it." I always make the recipe as close to exact as possible to be fair before making changes to it. I was surprised at the omission of garlic too, but wanted to try it as written. The mushrooms turned out delicious even with out bacon, garlic, or all the other ingredients everyone else seems to think they need. The stuffing was easy to make and they looked beautiful when the cheese got golden and bubbly. The hubby and I fought over the last one!! So, maybe next time a sliver of garlic or two, but then again, maybe not. I liked the recipe as written.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings
This was pretty good but I need to clarfy some stuff. Listen to the bisquik box, not the recipe here!! 1 cup of milk to 1.5 cups baking mix will give you soup. 3 slices of bacon is a little chinzy, we used 6 and could probably have used more. We didn't add the crumbled bacon until our own bowlfuls because we didn't want it soggy. The crunchy bacon on top is much better I think 2 C of the half and half would have sufficed, as 3 just seems like a little too much broth. This can be helpful, however, if your making more dumplings!! The rest of it we followed exactly and it turned out quite nice. Filling and comforting. Thanks for the great base recipe!
