Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2014
This was the best roast I've ever made!! It was super moist and juicy. I used a mostly frozen chuck roast that'd been in the freezer for 1 year and 7 months (I'd even almost thrown it out because of the discoloration). I thawed it in the fridge over night, then put it in the slow cooker for about 5 hours on high, then low for an additional 3. It was succulent. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
SO yummy! I've made other oatmeal apple crisps in the past, but this one was extraordinary! Love dirtying just one bowl, too! I barely used any white sugar, since I wanted the natural taste of the apples to come through. I also recommend Wholesome Sweeteners brand Organic brown sugar- a must have for baking!

Baked Oatmeal II

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2014
Been making this for years! My kids and I love it! Serving with warm milk is a must! We like it with fresh cranberries or raisins as well, and use just 1/2 cup brown sugar. We also bake it for 25-30 min, or until edges are brown and top is golden. I would say this serves about 6.

Tuna Rice Puff

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2013
This was a nice homey casserole. I thought it was good, but I'm intrigued about adding another ingredient or two to make it really be outstanding. My two year old had seconds and even asked for thirds!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
This was great! My two-year old gobbled it up. I skipped the cream and the apple, for sake of time. Homemade chicken broth really does the trick, too! It said 6 servings, but my 3 kids and I barely had enough. Next time I'll add more broth. Very delicious, though!

Lentil Soup with Lemon

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2013
This was great! I've made it twice now. The first time I accidentally used a whole can of tomato paste, I happened to be doubling the recipe. It was still really good, although I couldn't taste the lemon. The second time I made it as is and liked it even more! No need to blend any of it, it gets so soft anyway. I made it for friends and they thought it was great, too!

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
I was very pleased! Best cake i've ever made from scratch. I used less sugar (1 2/3 c) in the cake, and used about 1/2 c whole wheat pastry flour to make it a little healthier. The frosting was excellent! It really makes the cake, which was super moist. I would agree the cake could have more chocolate flavor, but I still really liked it as is. I used a 9 x 13 pan to transport it easier and it worked just fine. Thanks for a great recipe!

Addictive Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2013
Tip: Buy the "If You Care" brand of muffin liners and they will never stick to anything! They come in a small brown box. I reduced the sugar a lot and used all whole wheat pastry flour. I'm surprised others are calling them 'healthy' due to the suggested amount of 24.4 grams of sugar in each muffin. Sugar is addictive. While lower in fat, with all due respect the sugar content makes them the opposite of healthy.

Chicken and Rice Casserole II

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2013
I liked this a lot! Comfort food at its best. We didn't have mushrooms, but I used fresh green beans and some frozen mixed veggies. It does need quite a bit salt and pepper. I could see myself taking this dish to new moms! It filled a 9 x 13 pan easily. This pregnant mama can't wait to eat it for lunch tomorrow!

Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2013
Wow!! What a hit!! So yummy and satisfying. This pregnant mama is happy :) We used the sauce from "Simple Parmesan Chicken" from this site. We didn't have provolone, and I forgot the salt and pepper and it still got rave reviews from everyone, including a picky 5 yr old and 2 yr old. Thanks for the great recipe!

Best Spinach Dip Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2013
This was pretty good. I didn't love it, but I'm not usually the type to love packaged soup flavorings. I took it to a bridal shower with a veggie tray and it wasn't a huge hit. I did leave out the water chestnuts since I don't care for them, so maybe that was where I went wrong. I did use all the spinach package and would highly recommend it!

Sweet Potato Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
I liked this a lot. I do think it's a bit too peppery. I reduced it to about a tsp. and think it'd be better with even less. It got rave reviews by our dinner guests as well! We did use 2 sweet potatoes and 1 red potato. I also used 1/3 T yellow mustard, 1/3 T coarse ground mustard and 1/3 T spicy brown mustard. Thanks for the recipe!

These are crazy good! And easy! So much better than a box mix. Always a blessing to make stuff from scratch. Hard elbow grease burnin calories and more nutritious and far better taste is a win-win-win!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 11, 2013
Wonderful!! I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 whole wheat pastry flour (my baking secret). My husband, one to typically not love my whole wheat efforts, said it was awesome!! I give credit to the ww pastry flour. Since it's finer, it doesn't have that same strong flavor as regular ww. I also let it rise for like an hour because I had the time. Thank you for a great recipe!

Chocolate Frosting II

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
SO good! Very similar to the kind in a can, but much better and far richer. I use Dutch cocoa powder and more like 2 1/4 c powdered sugar and I kept the butter soft instead of melted and just mashed everything with a fork. I used it to frost a Duff chocolate cake mix (also the best!), cooked in a 9 x 13 and it worked great! Rave reviews from our guests, too!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
These were amazing!! My secret ingredients were organic brown sugar and whole wheat flour. I used 2 cups whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour. Oh WOW they were soooo good. Everyone who ate them thought the same. They were super moist for every day they lasted in the kitchen (about 4).

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
These turned out correctly, but lacked a garlic flavor, in my opinion. They were pretty good. Next time I'll add more garlic. Thanks!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
I thought these were pretty good, but I think I like the box better for taste reasons, although I much prefer the from scratch method because I know exactly what's in it.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2012
This was truly incredible!!!! Wow! Delicious! I added chicken, fresh broccoli and tomato. I didn't use ham and I used marble cheddar cheese since I didn't have Swiss. Even cold later it was fantastic. I don't think I will ever make a quiche with a crust again because this was perfect! And easy!
