About this Cook
I'm a uni student studying microbiology/immunology. I live with a constant fear of bacteria and parasites!!! I like kittens and my boyfriend, Sergei.
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking asian food, but I lack the skills.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm from Poland, my boyfriend is Russian so 95% of what I cook is east European fare. I prefer to eat and cook with food that hasn't come from a box.
My cooking triumphs
When in Bulgaria I scoured Sofia on a Sunday afternoon for two hours trying to find the simplest few ingredients to cook with. The oven/stove in my hostel apparently had a maximal temperature well below boiling, and thus a strange concoction was born. The American kids dug it and dubbed it a now infamous 'oily potato soup'. It was a hit.
My cooking tragedies
I always break down and cry when a recipe doesn't turn out. A spiralling depression ensues.

Authentic Middle Eastern Hummus (Chummus)
I couldn't help myself, had to add garlic. The taste is fantasitc. It killed my blender though :(

Coq au Creme
I wanted something reminiscent of Coq au vin, so I made a few modifications: 1/2 cup of white wine in place of some of the broth, also added tarragon and bay leaf for that sweetish/spicy flavour. And more flour, as everyone else mentioned. Great recipe

I used garlic instead of garlic powder. I would eat this in Poland, but it wasn't called Haluski, i think that is the Czech version. It's pretty surprising that something so simple can taste so good, I love this dish.
