Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: May 12, 2014
Very easy and tastes amazing. Have made this many times. Like everyone else I use butter instead of shortening. I was adding a teaspoon of vanilla, though I used maple extract by mistake once and now use it every time. Have tried it using someone's tip of dusting the chocolate chips with flour, but that's a bit of a time waster and didnt really make a differenence. People kind of freak out when they try this, it's that good.

Zucchini Brownies

Wonderful, so moist! No veggie after taste that we would tell. I will try a different frosting next time though, this one came out a bit thin for my taste. Awesome brownies though!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
Unlike many others, I use ALL the topping (well almost all, it's so darn good I usually snack a bit on it before putting it on the fruit...). I used a canned rhubarb, strawberry mixture the first time as it was too early for fresh rhubarb and it was pretty good, though have made it since with fresh and no surprise it is much better. I could eat this every day. Seriously.

Chef John's Gazpacho

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
My favourite thing about Allrecipes.com is reading reviews on how different people put their own spins on recipes to suit their individual taste, but this recipe is absolutely perfect as is. Followed the recipe exactly and was a HUGE hit at a potluck dinner, wouldn't change a thing. Thanks!

Light and Fluffy Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
I make this often, first few times followed the recipe exactly, then started using different vegetables, or adding ham. Really, really good quiche! Make sure to leave space between the top of the quiche and the foil before putting in the oven, sticks badly otherwise.

Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
We make these often, adding the bleu cheese into the burger and cooking them in the george forman when it's not grilling season. Delicious burgers! Much preferred over beef, and we are fans of red meat

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
The only changes I made was increasing the sauce and topping a bit, and used whole wheat macaroni and reduced fat cheddar. Very rich and creamy, absolutely delicious! Thought I had made plenty to pack for lunches, but we had no leftovers as we couldn't stop eating! Can't imagine a better mac n' cheese recipe. Thanks for posting!

Tomato Bisque III

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
I've made this recipe close to a dozen times. I make it pretty much as is, though I only use 2 tablespoons sugar, leave out the cream, and garnish it with fresh chopped basil. Everyone who tries it claims it's the best tomato soup they've ever tried. Using an inexpensive immersion blender is far easier than transferring to a regular blender. Great recipe, the nutmeg is a must! A big thank you to the recipe creator for sharing!

Spicy Beef Vegetable Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Used 1 lb turkey breast cut into 1/4 inch cubes intsead of ground beef. Also used 2 cups low sodium beef broth and 1 cup water instead of bouillon granules. Didn't have 8 hours to cook on low, so cooked on high 1.5 hours, low for about 4 hours. Soooo good!! Vegetables stayed suprisingly firm, not at all mushy.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
I've made this 6 or 7 times, made it for our 2nd anniversary stay at home dinner last night! It really is as good as the vast majority of the reviews say. After going through dozens of reviews and making it several times myself, I find that adding a finely grated midsize carrot, about a 1/2 cup of finely grated yellow onion, and letting the breadcrumbs soak in the milk turns out one tasty meatloaf!! I make two loaves in a 9 x 13 pan - usually the packing sizes of ground turkey gives about 2.25 lbs. I use 45% reduced fat cheese and it's just as gooey and delicious as regular. Topped with a thick and spicey bbq sauce....soooo good! The recipe posted as is is awesome, though it's super easy to tweek into whatever works for you and your family. Big thanks to the contributor!
