I'm a stay at home mother of three. Started making xmas cookies with my mom when I was young. She shared her love of baking and recipes with me. Now I'm sharing that love with my own children.
My favorite things to cook
Holiday themed desserts, cakes, cookies, treats, etc. As my Mom grew older, she asked me to do the holiday baking. I became the primary dessert maker for xmas than it expanded to birthdays and family celebrations. Now I've been trying my hand at cake decorating and found that I have a knack for it. My Family asks me to make fancy cakes for them, which I love doing but they don't realize how time consuming it is. Though it is gratifying to make them, it does take many hours and energy to make 1 cake. Everyone always tells me I should make a business out of it :) UPDATE: started selling cake & goodies, doing a cake/pkg once or twice a month. It's keeping me busy but I do it for the love of it and making ppl happy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Desserts, New Mexico Style & Holiday cooking, family tradition passed down from my great-grandma, grandma, my mom and to me :)
My cooking triumphs
My Baby's 1st Birthday cake. Learning to make cakes and discovering my artistic side and love for cake decorating.
My cooking tragedies
When I was young, tried to make stain glass cookies and jello but neither worked. UPDATE: Minnie Mouse Caramel apples have become my new tragedy. Decided to have Minnie themed birthday party for my daughter and seen so many cute candy ideas online, thought I would give it a try. Had a terrible time with the caramel apples. Candy kept running and were on everything but the apples (sticks, table, plate, etc) hardest thing I ever made, dispointing and time consuming. Candy making is a lot harder then it looks, felt like lucy in the candy factory episode :)
