Overnight Eggnog French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
I made this according to instructions, took it out of the oven after 35 mins and it wasn't even close to being done. I set the oven to 350° and put it in for another 35 mins. I put it back in to brown @375° and after 7 mins it still wasn't browned. It was still a loose when we decided to eat it. Tasted okay but the crust on the bread was really tough. If I ever make this again I'll use Texas toast but I doubt I'll ever make it again.

Easy Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
First of all...I don't like to rate recipes if I"ve made changes and that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars. Secondly, I'm very picky about stuffing. I added about an 1/8 tsp. or so of poutry seasoning and used chicken broth instead of water, just because another reviewer said it was bland. Otherwise, I followed the recipe and it was delicious. I used Stove Top Sage flavored for the stuffing mix. Very easy and has a nice homemade taste. I wouldn't serve it for Thanksgiving dinner but for a quick stuffing it's awesome.

Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
I just made this for a potluck at work and I was given several compliments and these aren't guys who are known for their complimenting. The general consensus was "these are awesome" "can I have the recipe". To me they were just okay. I made 1 1/2 times the sauce and put in 3 kielbasas. There was more than enough sauce for at least 4. I simmered everything on top of the stove until the onions were tender and used the crockpot to keep it warm. Next time I think I'll start out with less water and add as needed. It was pretty soupy. I served them without pasta or rice.

Fresh Rhubarb Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
Good and very easy but it needs something. Maybe a carmel sauce and more rhubarb. I used bread cubes that I bought from my grocery store's bakery. It made the recipe very simple.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
I made a similar recipe that called for garlic and it was awful so I choose to omit the garlic and almonds. I also used half and half instead of cream and anded some canned mushrooms. It was delicious! I'm giving this 3 stars (which I consider slightly above edible) as is but it would have been 5 if it didn't call for garlic. Also, for beginner cooks I think it's important for them to know that you need to continually stir the sauce while it's on the burner thickening.

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This recipe is good but I'm very glad I read some of the other reviews. I like stuffing to be moist and 2 1/2 - 3 cups of liquid was just right for me. I cooked on high for the first 45 mins and turned to low for 5 hours, stirring once after 2-3 hours. It seemed overcooked to me. I think next time I'll do 30 mins on high and 3 hours on low. I think with some changes this could be a 4 star recipe. I'm only giving it a 3 as is.

Spinach and Potato Frittata

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
I thought I had to have a $90 frittata pan before I could make a frittata but that's not the case. This recipe is easy and delicious and you can easily make changes. Last time I made it I added some fresh cilantro. Next time I'm going to add some aspargus and tomato slices. Excellent recipe!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
I totally screwed up this recipe and it still turned out great. I didn't dredge in flour first and I forgot the seasoned salt and garlic. My wife hates cream of mushroom soup but she loved this sauce and it made a terrific gravy. Excellent recipe! This is my second review: We discovered that the reason this recipe was so good the first time was because I forgot the seasoned salt and garlic. We remembered it the second time we made it and ended up throwing out the leftovers! Do yourself a favor and at least leave out the seasoned salt.

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
When I first looked at this recipe I thought "how good can it be?" It turned out to be very good. I followed the recipe but instead of butter I squirted about a tablespoon or so of squeeze margarine on it. We used the leftovers for breakfast burritos the following morning.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
My wife and I often order sirloin tips and spaetzle at a German restaurant in northern Minnesota. This is very similar if you serve it over frozen noodles.(we break them up before putting them in the water) We've also learned that we can use leftover roast beef and just heat everything up in a sauce pan on top of the stove. It's perfect for a quick and delicious weekday supper.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
My wife and I love jambalaya and this recipe sounded good but we didn't care for it. The chicken was way overcooked, it was watery and the flavor was so-so. It's not a cheap dish to make so I would recommend not trying this.

Awesome Baked Sea Scallops

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
My wife made this recipe for Christmas guests and I did not care for it. I can eat almost anything and this wasn't something I could handle. I assume my wife did everything correctly but it's possible something was omitted. I wouldn't recommend this especially if you're having guests.
