My mom with her kids!
About this Cook
I'm 24 years old and I LOVE to cook!! I always enjoyed cooking but I was always too busy with school to do it. Now that I stay at home, I'm always looking for a new recipe to try.
My favorite things to cook
I love experimenting with all types of food! I will try any recipe at least once! My favorites would have to be any type of a seafood or a pasta dish. The possibilities are endless!! I also make at least one slow-cooker meal a week(usually a pork shoulder, which turns into BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, yum!!)...that's always a time saver!! I also love making desserts, especially cheesecakes=)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve dinner at my grandma's house...Turkey, Tamales, Birria, Posole, Bunuelos, Champurrado, among other traditional Mexican foods, surrounded by the whole entire family...what could be better?!?
My cooking triumphs
Any time someone says, "I can eat this everyday!!," or "We NEVER have to eat out ever AGAIN!!," I consider that a triumph=) I also cooked my 1st Thanksgiving dinner this past year all by myself!! Very time consuming, but very rewarding when nobody could stop eating and kept saying how good everything was!! My very picky brother and sister even had seconds of everything!!
My cooking tragedies
Waaaaaay too many!! But, you live and learn=)

Chicken Katsu
This chicken was SOO good!! We all really enjoyed it, even my 22 month old loved it! Super crispy, very tasty and surprisingly moist!! I made only a few changes...Instead of all-purpose flour, I used Tempura Batter Mix and since some reviews said that the chicken was kind of bland, I put about 1 tsp of garlic salt & 1 tsp pepper in to the beaten egg...YUM! Absolutely PERFECT! Will definitely be making this again!!

Persian Cucumber Yogurt (Maast-o Khiar)
My husband is Persian and he just loved this! He said it was better than his mother's=) From having eaten this before, I did leave out the garlic as I don't remember it having garlic in there and it was the exact flavor I expected. We ate it with lavash(flat bread) and Kabob...YUM!!
