Apparently talent in cooking comes from our mother, my mother is an awesome cook and introduced me to a wide variety that I have expanded upon myself. I am a certified nurse-midwife, have been married 26 years, have four children (three boys and then a girl).
My favorite things to cook
Healthy balanced meals for my family, using fresh and whole ingredients. Really wide variety from soul food to Samoan food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A few that I have passed to my kids include making "Eggs A la Goldenrod" for Easter (from the hard boiled colored eggs). We always have a big family meal on Christmas and New Years Eve, this past one I mastered Prime Rib and Yorkshire Pudding.
My cooking triumphs
I have canned LOTSA tomatoes and my own varieties of spaghetti sauces each year from my garden. Can put on a huge Chinese feast from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
Cannot seem to start a fire to save my life, so I am giving up on my charcoal smoker after some people said things tasted like starter fluid.
