Creamy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts

Now I love brussels sprouts cooked anyway you want, but this was an outstanding dish! Like some others I found that I had to cook these much longer than the directions called for but they were well worth the extra time. The parmesan sauce thickened upon standing. I have to admit I put the leftovers way back in the fridge so they would go undiscovered and I had them all to myself the next day!

Chococonut Chip Cookies

Christmas Lizzies

These came out dry for me though I haven't had one today, all reviews indicate they are better a day after baked. I made them larger than the recipe indicated and baked them 14 min. That seemed to help. The flavor is great though. I used spiced rum.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Made this for the annual Halloween party and it was a HUGE hit!! Everyone loved it, though I did omit the hot peppers and it was plenty hot without them. I would say leave them out unless you are making this for a group you know likes things spicy!

Leek Potato Mushroom Cheddar Soup

Awesome recipe! I judge all non meat based recipes on my husbands reaction, being a stolid carnivore. He LOVED it! An easy recipe to play with, adding this that or the other. Makes a great starting point for a basic soup that'll use up your leftovers. I added leftover lentils, and veggie broth that needed used and it turned out delish!

Bacon-Mushroom Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprouts are always a risk for a large family meal. Some folks won't eat a sprout no matter HOW you make it. But this year i didn't care. these were so good, i HOPED no one ate them so i could have them all to myself! Wow!! So tasty i made them again later in the week so i could have a batch just for me! Thanks!

Cream Cheese Christmas Cookies

I LOVED these cookies! Dough is a little hard to get formed into perfect logs so getting them evenly covered in sugar took some work and they came out a little lumpy and less than uniform. Also even though the slight browning does not effect taste at all, i think they were avoided a bit by guests perusing the buffet. For those that took a chance on them, they gave RAVE reviews. They stay chewy for a long time and really taste like a cheese cake cookie!

Cranberry Walnut Relish I

Another example of simple is better!! Tons of recipes for cranberry relish that involve cooking the berries... why!? this is perfect. tons of cranberry taste, perfect with turkey, and lasts forever! I cut back on the sugar as i like my relish tart and full of berry flavor!

Broccoli Casserole

Sometimes simpler is best. I have tried dressed up fancier versions of this casserole and was always disappointed. This recipe was right on. Just make sure you buy good quality brand name frozen brocolli florets or you will end up with brocolli butt casserole!

Christmas Spice Cookies

Every year i try a few new cookie recipes, but it takes a really special cookie to get on my list of "regulars". This cookie made it not just for its wonderfully zingy spiciness but for its ability to stay chewy all through the season Great recipe!

Orange Pecan Cookies

I find these cookies to be a big hit with grown ups, not so much with the kids. They are great with coffee or tea, not overly sweet, and look nice on a christmas cookie tray. I like them for breakfast, but don't tell!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

i make these very year and even though the batter is a royal pain to work with and even though it makes such a small batch, I never leave them out of my christmas cookie plates. Lighter than air, melt in your mouth, not too sweet; they are worth the work!

Kitchen Sink Salad Dressing

Wow, what a unique dressing! I had to hide the ingredients from my family though or they wouldn't have eaten it..."tomato soup? Ewww"... I just eyeballed the spices and tweaked until I got it just right. Makes a ton too! Thanks!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Loved the recipe, but i altered it a bit. After i added the dry ingredients, i stirred in a bag of andre's mint chocolate chips. I had to bake it a bit longer than 10 minutes. They are always a huge hit!

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Great turkey recipe! Turned out very moist, highly flavored, and elegant. Different enough to get noticed but not so different that my great uncle complained that I was "trying to act like one o' them gormets!" Plus it made the house smell great. I used even more garlic than what it called for.

Baked Ham

WOW! This was the Best ham I have ever eaten. It got rave reviews at a recent party, my dad, the pickiest ham eater alive, LOVED it at Thanksgiving, and my husband, who hates ham, actually ate this! So simple yet the meat was fork tender, it tasted rich and smoky and was so juicy, and I used the cheapest ham I could find!

Spicy Italian Salad

A great starting point for the imagination. I loved the dressing, though I used olive oil and more garlic. The name spicy may be a bit misleading, as I did not find it spicy or even all that tangy, so I added roasted red peppers, pepperoni, and kalamata olives, and when it got served as leftovers the next day, it got everything but the kitchen sink thrown in! Still good!
