Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
I made these for Christmas last year to go with the assortment of cookies I put in tins for everyone. They tasted very good. I think they were the biggest hit with my husband :) Thank you for a wonderful tea cake recipe. I am making these again, this time for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
This is a great brownie. I did make some adjustments and some substitutions for the the oil. I cut the oil in half and put in 1/2 cup applesauce, they held together really well. I really like the gooey, fudgy texture :) Also, I thought the amt of sugar used was pretty high, so I substituted 1/2 c. of the sugar with powdered milk, and then proceeded to add 1/2 c. honey with 3/4 c. of sugar. That's really all the sugar it needed to make it sweet enough. I also substituted some of the flour with oat flour (wheat-free) to make it healthier and whole grain. Thank you for this recipe, it was wonderful. I have made it 2 times already in the past month!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I've made this soup twice so far, and am just now getting the opportunity to review it. The taste is wonderfully divine. I've been increasing my cooking skills in Indian cuisine more lately, and had to try this recipe. I must say, this is a bit Americanized compared to others, but the taste does not reveal that one bit, it seems! My husband loved it ( and that says a lot when he tells you over and over ) :D He does not like cooked apples either, so I would suggest grating the apple if you add it. I omitted the second time, and my husband told me to leave the recipe like it is. I did not feel the need to add the cream. However, I feel that coconut milk would be a wonderful addition to it instead of cream or half and half... Much Healthier, too!!! Good monounsaturated fats are always the way to go. Thank you for this awesome recipe. This will not be made around the house at least several times a month. ;D UPDATE: 3/19/09 -- I STILL LOVE THIS SOUP! And so does my husband. :D I can never go wrong with soup. I always add more carrots than what it calls for, though. :D YUM, YUM! :)

Thai Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: May 18, 2007
I made this dish last night, and I thought it was great! Thanks to other cooks for their invaluable advice on the sauce- the addition of the molasses and brown sugar, sans some of the soy sauce gave a great balanced flavor. I added some water to the peanut/soy mixture to yield more sauce without destroying the flavor or the texture. Not too salty. I love peanut butter so much, so that remained the control variable in this truly versatile dish. Another thing, I substituted red wine vinegar for white wine vinegar, and it played wonderfully well with this robust concoction. Also, mix in a handful of chopped pineapple, and it gives it even more charm. My daughter who is 2 didn't like it very much, as she can be picky at times (no brainer :) but.... I thought it was so awesome. Thanks again!

I found this receipe almost 2 years ago, I think, and I have not gotten the chance to review this recipe yet. These cookies are very good. They always turn out very moist and soft, perfect for my husband. He loves them. It is the only chocolate chip cookie recipe I use. Thank you very much for this recipe. :D
