About this Cook
Didn't know how to cook AT ALL, so I set a goal to learn 50 new recipes. Now I'm on round 2 of another 50 because holy , cooking can be interesting! Recipes and notes at
My favorite things to cook
Variety. I'm bored with the same thing all the time. I've stuck with Italian and Tex-Mex so far, but now I want to branch out and try other nationalities.
My cooking triumphs
almond and tomato pesto, and spaghetti with arugula and shrimp - both from Naked Chef

Classic Rice Pilaf
I didn't bake this - I put it in a deep pan on the stovetop and covered it, then cooked on low until the liquid had all absorbed into the rice. Not a problem. I used 3 or 4 scallions rather than 1/2 of a regular onion, and I sprinkled parsley over the whole thing when it was done. Tasted great!

Basil Chicken and Pasta
It's a good base recipe with potential for a lot of additions. I added orange bell pepper, mushrooms, onion and broccoli, and salt.

Tzatziki Sauce
This is one of our stand-bys when we make Greek or Mediterranean food. Gyros aren't the same without it!
