Pomegranate Stew with Chicken (Khoresh Fesenjan)

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
I made this because I had about 5 lbs of walnuts I wanted to use and had this in Persian restaraunts in the past. I rated this as three stars because of the amount of oil that comes to the top. It was kind of a mess, but the flavor was authentic to Persian food, so if you're a fan of this, make it. I also used Pom Molasses that I found at our local Middle Eastern grocery and had for another recipe, so it was a good way to use things in my pantry, but wasn't a winner for us. I did end up adding a few tablespoons of sugar in the end because it was so tart that I had to take some of the bite out of it. I also used fresh cardamon pods that I threw in with the walnuts when I ground them in my Cuisinart. Was just okay.

Impossible French Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
Hubby says, "This is not a traditional apple pie, but for the ease of how it's made and a traditional apple pie taste, this is a winner." But I say the crust was kind of soggy, and I prefer the flakiness of a traditinal pie crust, even if you're buying one already prepared to save time. Hubby wants me to make this one a keeper, I say let's try something else. But hey, it does use some of that huge Costco box of Bisquick in my pantry!

Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
Very good, we made it for Thanksgiving and it was a nice alternative to that tired pineapple/sweet potato/marshmallow mess. Even our toddler ate it.

Hodie's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
Yummy! Quickly comes together and would be an easy weeknight supper. Even my three year old gobbled it up. Thanks for a new addition to my regular meals. We used ground turkey and it's very tasty.

Frog Eye Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Tasted like canned, overprocessed, too much sugar, 1970s food. Not a hit at all. However my husband liked it so I'll give it two stars.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Pretty good overall, but the broccoli got too soft in the oven for my liking. Kiddos liked it okay though.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
This is an outstanding cake! I have made it three times and it has been a hit each time. It is perfect with Hershey's chocolate frosting recipe made with Penzeys dutch processed cocoa. I just served it at my neighborhood block party Nd everyone raved. You can't go wring with this moist and yummy cake!

PHILLY Bavarian Apple Torte

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
Great recipe! I made this for a brunch I prepared for some girlfriends. Very easy to prepare and delicious! I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and that worked fine. I also added about 1/4 tsp almond extract to the crust and it was subtle but very tasty. I will make this again.

Lemon Pepper Green Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2014
Liked it. I made it with steam bag green beans so all I prepared was the butter and then tossed it. A nice dress up for the usual plain steamed green beans so I'd make it again. I had thought it would be salty so I cooked more beans so it wasn't so concentrated, and I needed more for my guests anyway.

Crustless Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2014
A great thing to make for Christmas brunch. Looks festive, cooks up easy, hard to go wrong. I adjusted the almond extract down a bit and added vanilla (because most baked goods taste better with vanilla). I've made it twice this holiday season and will make again.

Great substitute for too salty store mixes. I made a big batch and use it regularly. Good stuff!
