Best Brownies

These brownies are absolutely the BEST! We always double the batch and bake in a 9x13 pan. A few tips: do not stir too much-this a common mistake people do when making brownies and it will result in cake-like brownies instead of the gooey chewie ones you were looking for; do not overbake, they will finish cooking in the pan while they cool. These are great with or without the frosting. We usually don't frost them (mostly because I'm too lazy to make it lol) and they are plenty rich and yummy by themselves. Enjoy!

Dansk Aebleskiver (Danish Doughnuts)

This is my wife's account so take with a grain of salt. She is the real cook in the house. I heard about aebelskivers from My grandfather. He told us about eating them when the Skandinavian women would gahter to quilt. He made sure to show up at the house where they were quilting so he could get some. These women were from pioneering times in my valley. So began my search. I had a great recipe but lost it so I searched here and found this recipe. I didn't have the cardoman so skipped it. They turned out great. We have 7 kids. I could not keep up once I started serving. The only problem is a I need a second pan. Thanks for sharing.

Fruited Wild Rice Pilaf

I make a dish similiar to this one that I always get requests for. I use the same basic recipe, but instead of apples, I use craisins. I also saute the rice in the butter with the onions and celery until the white rice starts turning slightly translucent. This reduces the cooking time to around 20 minutes intstead of 50 minutes. Slivered almonds are also good. Very tasty!

Cereal Treats II

I have always loved these since I was a kid. I like to mix and match cereals. One of my favorites is 1/2 rice krispies and 1/2 fruity pebbles. I also like to fill the middle. You just separate the recipe. Press half into a lightly greased 8x8 pan, then spread with whatever filling you prefer. You can do peanut butter, chocolate chips, jam, frosting, whatever sounds good. Then, press the second half over carefully. This is a really fun recipe to play with, so get creative. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, add sprinkles or your favorite candy, or use cookie cutters and make shapes. I really like the sushi idea. Very cute! Today I made them with a variety of cereal I had on hand. I did two cups of each Rice Krispies, Cheerios, and Kix. My kids love them and when I make them with whole grain cereals, it turns out to be a very healthy treat! Tips for the stickiness: Lightly spray your spatula, knife, cookie cutters, and hands with a butter cooking spray. This will make it much easier to spread, cut, and handle the treats! Thanks for the basic recipe!
