excellent recipe! definitely not an overwhelming balsamic vinegar taste, even with marinading it for over 5 hrs. thanks!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
family really enjoyed this recipe. i personally didnt think it was that great and the reason is that the crust was mushy and i havent figured out how to prevent that with cheesecakes. also, the caramel layer sticks to the sides of the pan making it difficult to get out. easy recipe though.

4H Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
this isnt the best banana bread i've had (that's why 4 stars-i'd give it another half if possible), but it was still very good and i'd make it again. i replaced the sugar with 3/4 cup splenda and used 5 med. sized bananas. cooked it for 50 minutes and it was perfectly done and really moist. thanks for the recipe!

Sweet Corn Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2010
my family licked this up! i used bread flour instead of the masa harina and cooked it for about 10 minutes longer than called for. next time i will try the recipe with 1/2 the butter and see how it turns out. thank you!!

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
great taste - one of the best i've tried so far. i used pepperridge farm cinnamon bread. i didnt use the whole loaf cos it was 16 oz., but when i got all the ingredients mixed together, it was alot of liquid (not oatmeal consistency). so i added about 4 more slices of regular bread. i thought for sure it wouldnt turn out, but i cooked it (with foil on top) for 1 hr. 45 min. and it did turn out fine. next time if i use that same sweet bread, i'll reduce the butter by half and the brown sugar by 1/2 cup (or even 3/4 c.). i originally reduced it by 1/4 cup, but it could definitely go down more. it was very sweet and would be great served warm with vanilla ice cream!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
husband really enjoyed this meat. i thought it was ok - but i'm not a big fan of bay leaf. cooked it on high for 4 hours, could get by with half an hour less probably. would be good on hoagie buns with some monterey cheese and toasted in the oven. thanks for sharing!

Zucchini and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
i have NEVER had a problem with eating too many vegetables (desserts, yes, but never vegetables) and i couldnt stop eating this dish. YUM YUM YUM! the zucchini was excellent. i used red potatoes and didnt peel them. i added chunks of onion and used minced garlic. would be good with carrots and yellow squash. great recipe! thanks for sharing!

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
heavenly is right! loved this recipe. very easy to make, too. i used a candy thermometer with the egg mixture (160 degrees). i put the bowl in the freezer to chill it before whipping the cream. the mousse does get firm when chilled in the fridge, but you can take it out beforehand and let it get to room temp then it will be more soft. i never had it with whipped cream on top, but next time i will - would be perfect with it. thanks for the recipe!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
this frosting had great flavor and was light. normally i prefer the heavier cream cheese/powdered sugar frosting, but this is a great one if you dont want that real sugary taste or dont want to overwhelm your cake. thanks!!

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
this was a good marinade, although i didnt really detect the "key lime" flavor. i did marinade it for approx. 6 hrs. next time i think i'll double the key lime and see what happens. also, the thicker the chicken breast, the less the marinade stands out so next time i'd pound the breasts down to thinner pieces before adding to the marinade.

Janine's Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
honestly, i dont think i can give any banana bread a poor rating. banana bread is banana bread to me and its all very good. this recipe was very tasty - not extremely moist, but still good. i used 3 smaller bananas so i added a 4th decent size one...thought it might be too much, but definitely wasnt. i could have probably cooked it a few minutes less too. but all in all it really did turn out great! thanks!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
this pork (i used pork shoulder) was excellent with just the root beer marinade. it is kinda sweet, so be careful what bbq sauce you add so it's not too sweet...depending on what your looking for i guess.

Pumpkin Chocolate Dessert Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
very heavy, dense cake. thought it had great flavor. had to cook it 20 minutes more than recipe stated. the frosting turned out fine for me - no lumps even though i didnt sift the powdered sugar. but, the frosting was thin so when i poured it over the cake it essentially just ran off the cake onto the pan. next time i will halve the frosting and maybe wait a bit before pouring it on the cake in hopes that it'll thicken a bit and stay on the cake (definitely didnt look like the frosting in the recipe picture). i think this would be great with the cinnamon ice cream recipe from this site! thanks for the recipe!
