Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
so much better than in a frying pan!! nothing was soggy. great cruchy taste. i put the sandwiches on a cooling rack on a cookie sheet. takes longer than the frying pan of course, but well worth it and i'm glad i finally tried it after all these years! thanks for the recipe.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
absolutely wonderful soup! i added about 15 baby carrots (boiled to soften), celery (3 stalks), and garlic (sauteed the garlic and celery) and i didnt have all the cream so i did 1 cup heavy whipping and 1 cup whole milk. it was perfect!! thanks so much!! by the way, i think you could definitely get away with using regular milk to decrease the calories.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
fantastic! i had a bone-in, 7 lb. precooked ham. i scored the top (cut 1/2" deep strips in the top and then did the same diagonal to those cuts) and halved the recipe. definitely dont need the full recipe whatsoever! i used 1/4 cup brown sugar instead of the karo syrup and 1/4 tsp. ground cloves instead of whole cloves. i put the ham and glaze in an oven bag, cover a cookie sheet with foil and cooked it in the oven for 18 minutes per pound. every twenty minutes i flipped the baste around on the ham - voila, theres my basting. i wouldnt do it any other way than with an oven/turkey bag. loved this ham!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
this is my first pecan pie i've made and my second that i've tasted. so i dont have alot to compare it to, but that being said, i thought this recipe was extremely easy (making pies doesnt get any easier than this) and tasted great. i put it in a deep dish crust and that wasnt necessary. it would fit fine in a regular crust. i baked it for 15 minutes at 350 degrees and then turned it down to 300 for 50 minutes. perfect.

Amazingly Good Eggnog

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
i havent had egg nog before and i was excited to try this recipe, esp. since the eggs are cooked. excellent excellent excellent! tasted kinda like pumpkin pie. i used half and half instead of light cream and people added the bourbon to their taste. my kids licked this up. may be good with amaretto too. i did use a hand blender stick with this to make it smooth - highly suggest doing this. great egg nog for nondrinkers and drinkers alike. thank you - i am adding this to the yearly christmas tradition.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
easiest recipe!! i microwaved it at 20 - 30 second intervals. beautiful glaze, although not chocolately enough for me. works great as a light glaze if you dont want anything too rich.

Soft Chocolate Mint Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
if you like mint, these are excellent. i didnt crave them so thats why they got a 4 star. for the buttermilk i used 1 cup of milk + 1 tsp. lemon juice. i used 1/2 tsp peppermint extract....3/4 tsp. wouldve been fine too probably. first i used 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips....way too chocolatey, even for me (which is saying alot). next time i used 1/2 c. and that was just right. on the third batch i only had 2 of the 3 squares of unsweetened chocolate, so i used 1/2 c. hersheys unsweetened cocoa powder. it worked just as well taste wise, although it was sticker when putting onto the cookie sheets. i did put a "satiny chocolate glaze" (from the website) on them. oh, and i melted the butter and chocolate in the microwave at 20 - 30 second intervals. extremely easy recipe!!!! i guess for that alone i should give it 5 stars! thanks for the recipe.

Barbeque Pork Two Ways

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
definitely nothing wrong with this recipe, it is very good. i gave it 4 stars just because there are other recipes similar to this one on this website that are better. great recipe though, and extremely easy to make. the only thing about the pork shoulder is its fatty and i dont care for the extra work of trimming it. also, the sauce didnt thicken up so even with straining it, it'll make your sandwich soggy.

Outrageous Warm Chicken Nacho Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2010
excellent taste. didnt add the jalapenos cos the kids were eating with us, and it was still too spicy for them. used half velveeta and half sharp cheddar cheese. for the taco seasoning mix, i used taco seasoning I by bill echols from this site (minus the hot pepper flakes). this is great with the black beans. we actually ate it as a meal :)

made this into 2 loaves instead of muffins. great taste, but did taste heavy and fattening so next time i will definitely decrease the sugar. great alternative to banana bread.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
i honestly didnt think i my family and i would like this dish because we arent big veggie eaters, but it was great. i doubled the spices (except garlic salt) and used petite diced canned tomatoes to speed up the process. my family loves cheese, so we didnt think 2 cups was too much at all, but to be healthier i will decrease it by half a cup next time. the casserole was watery even though i drained the tomatoes - but bread was good to soak it up. next time i will drain the tomatoes even better i guess. i did add precooked small shrimp (about 1.5 cups) since we are meat eaters and my husband said it would be a good recipe to add any kind of meat to. oh, i think next time i will make more brown rice too (double) - couldnt really tell that there was rice in the casserole it was such a small amount. thanks for the recipe!

Honey Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
wasnt blown away by this recipe by any means, but i would make it again. mostly had a worchestire flavor - didnt tast much of the honey flavor that was in the basting sauce. i did decrease the worchestire marinade to 1/4 cup and only added 1 tbsp. to the basting sauce. next time i think i'll just skip the worchestire in the basting sauce completely. also, it was pretty greasy probably due to the butter in the basting sauce. so next time i may just try half the butter with more honey. marinaded the shrimp for approx. 7 hrs. served with brown rice and grilled vegetables. also, i used pre-cooked shrimp, which i wont do again - was only on the grilled a short short time, but still was rubbery and chewey. stick with the uncooked shrimp!

Pineapple Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
wow!! i marinaded 3 large chicken breasts for approx. 8 hours and then grilled them. i doubled the sauce, putting half of it in a ziplock bag to marinade the chicken, and the other half i added cornstarch to thicken. next time i wont double the sauce though cos it made too much. served it with brown rice. love it!!

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2010
good recipe - the reason why i gave it 4 stars is because i could hardly taste the muffin itself with all the blueberries. next time i make it i'll probably halve the amount of blueberries.
